Hello all, this is a long shot but I wonder if anyone has some old editions of UBG from the early 1990's hanging around that they could look through for me? I think it was UBG, a little monthly mag in A5 format in those days. Specifically I'm looking for a 'Readers Rides' review of a Kawasaki KH125. I'd obviously like a scan but if someone could tell me year or edition month/number that would be great too so I could try an source my own copy.

I know it's unlikely but if I don't ask I don't get!

Thanks.

They used to have little reviews on their website, but I can't even find that anymore.

My first bike was a KH125 K9 i think. Great little bike but I had a lot of problems with it due to my lack of knowledge about bikes at the time.

I have an old Motor Cycle Mechanics magazine dated July 1977 with a road test of a KH 125.

£5.00 including post and packaging.

That must be the old A models.

Here's a pic of my K9. I remember giving away an original owners manual to someone on these forums.

It felt huge when the guy turned up and rolled it out of the van 4 years ago.

Same as this https://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/bikereviews/searchresults/Bike-Reviews/Kawasaki/Kawasaki-KH125-1975-1998/

Price then in 1977 was £417.50

Hi

There is a short bit in UMG no 12, but not much.

I do have a large pile of later issues as well, but pain to find anything (ctrl F and typing in what you want to find doesn't appear to work for printed matter).

All the best

Keith

I do have a bit of an ulterior motive rather than just reading a review of the bike - I wrote the article. I had a copy of the edition for years but it must have got thrown out. A friend of mine reminded me of it a few weeks ago so I just wondered if it was still out there anywhere. My mate reckons I wrote it around mid-1990's.

I still have a little KH125Ex L1, same model (though not same bike) as I had all those years back. I bought this one with only 1700 miles on it since 1984, it has the original tax disc on it too, the guy left it in a garage for 20 odd years! Some people are a bit odd (saying that, the bike was in my house for a few months - see pic).

Anyway, if anyone finds the article let me know - I really need to see how bad things were without a spell checker!

Wow, I'm almost excited (I have a sad life)

I've just discovered there was another KH125 review by a chap called David Atkinson, that's not me!! So, please keep digging about in your old UBGs and see if you can find another review in there somewhere. Thanks chaps and chapettes.

The Used Motorcycle Guide used to have the Bike Buyer's Bible, but that disappeared sometime last year, and archive.org doesn't have a copy of it.

This pissed me off until a couple of minutes ago, when I found that someone had saved it and stuck it on a blog Thumbs Up

UMG.

Kawasaki KH125
125: 78-on, 124cc 2-str single, 12hp, 65mph, 100mpg

Commuter, often abused in learner hands, strong on engine durability but later chassis rots. Early bikes had drum brakes which aren't up to much, later bikes had cast wheels and front disc. Engine lasts 30-40k. KH125 has better economy, more speed. KH100 cheaper, slower economy version.
C1 £1200, C2 £550, C3 £100

Ahhh that's the old quick review about prices etc that they used to carry every month. It was wrong too, only the L1 (84-85) had cast wheels, all the rest had spoked, right up until '98. I like the 'more speed' bit. Thanks for that, keep hunting through those UMG or UBG?? There are quite a few on ebay at the mo but no copies of what I want Crying or Very sad

Glad you like it, I didn't think the UMG should be allowed to fall out of cyberspace without something of a fight Very Happy

There's still loads to re-post, so do check back every now and again!

Interestingly, they still make KH125s in South America I think. They call them a GTO.

You see odd grey imports for sale over here.

So, anyone found anything in an old UBG or UMG?

If anyone comes across any other old brochures or magazine articles for a KH125 let me know, all scans gratefully received. I'd like to include them on my (sad) website at www.kh125.co.uk

Thanks again for those who have contacted me.
