I have usually reliable GPZ500. It has always started when battery is ok. New battery charge. Nothing. Electrics are on. Nothing.

Could any one advise me.

Do I > Check if there is any DC current going down to staring-Motor on relay/Switch supplying electric to S-Motor

(When battery is flat, this relay normally clicks.)

Cheers

Yes, just spoke with bike shop. I'm getting from top of solenoid 12volts reading, continuously. (1 lead from battery, one lead out to S-motor). This appears wrong? Test done by M-Meter on top of sole-terminals.

I also placed meter on terminals entering S-motor and pressed start button. No voltage present. I also checked the fuses in box.

I've heard of a worn ignition switch causing the warning lights to work but not the starter button.

With your multimeter. You should check for voltage between each post and earth rather than between the two posts. There should be 12v at one and nothing at the other.

Try shorting between the two terminal posts on the solenoid with an old screwdriver (you ought to get sparks and suchlike so don't panic if you see them). The starter motor should turn when you do so.

If it does, there is a fair chance the solenoid is duff. I've had two of those ones go over the years.

If it doesn't there is a problem with the starter motor or its connectors (assuming the battery is ok).

Also check inside the block connector on the solenoid (which holds the main fuse) for signs of corrosion.

The starter relay [1] played up on both of my GPzs, causing similar grief. With the ignition switched on, use a screwdriver to bridge the 2 big posts on the relay - if it turns the engine over you have just found the culprit.

[1] There are actually 2 starting relays on the GPz500s - the one I'm referring to here is mounted on the LHS frame a couple of inches rearward from the battery. The *other* starting relay is housed inside the junction/fuse box thing and if that is the problem you have to replace the whole junction box, but that is much less likely to fail.

You can take the PCB out of that junction box and solder in a new microrelay if one goes duff. Nobody was more surprised than me when I found that one out because it looks like a sealed unit at first glance. Mine started working again when I flicked the relay with my fingernail though.

Well thanks guys, (stinkwheel), you have made a nervous man happy.

I did the bridging terminal test on the side solenoid and sparks flew and the motor turned over. Phew.

I will now seek to get a replacement part. They are about a tena only.

Cheers
