Can I ask, as I have seen a lot of people read this and not respond.

Would you say that I am dreaming if I believe I can sell a second hand helmet?

Would most of you not touch one?

I have advertised this on a couple of forums and quite a few people are coming back saying that nobody in their right mind would touch a second hand helmet, do you agree?

I personally wouldn't buy a 2nd hand helmet either. If I was paying £200 I'd want a brand new one.

Its possible to drop a helmet in a protective bag or rucksack and it not show any damage on the outside, risky to buy 2nd hand imo but youve nothing to lose Thumbs Up

Pants, what camera do you have mate?? It's amazingly good quality... I got a Sony DSC-P10 5 MP camera a few months back but a remotely decent quality picture is a rarity.. stupidly annoying for £300 when there are probably so much better cameras out there.. I take it yours was very expensive?

I have a Nikon D70, it is an entry level digital SLR, with lens around £1000, you can get them cheaper online. The really good digital SLRS start around £1500 upwards.

I actually reduced the quality of them for web use, the originals are perfect.

Don't get my wrong here, I am pants at photography, but I am willing to learn. Maybe the lack of quality is more user error than crap camera if you know what I mean. Try different settings, other than auto and see what you can do. 5mp is very good quality, my really good camera is only 6.1mp. I know there is more to quality than just MP, component CCD quality, lens quality etc etc. But that Sony you have looks pretty good to me.

I can't get a moving picture remotely as good quality as your S50... Mine are always grainy and dull. I have tried various settings, can't actually work out how to change the shutter speed though, that seems to be one of the biggest problems with it.. Also the flash sometimes burns my finger? Shocked

I'm just pissed off with it as I can't get any decent shots despite playing with settings..

Mates 3 MP camera gets better pictures than mine!

I have improved with photos lately, can actually get the whole object in the frame, i.e. a bike Laughing

and get some okay action shots despite the quality lacking considering its a 5MP camera!

I use it mostly on "Action" setting.. the shutter speed is quicker, but the image dulls down a LOT and loses quality... any idea how to make my own setting with a nice exposure but still quick shutter speed?

Okay, looked at your camera on Amazon, it looks like you can set the shutter speed, ISO and aperture manually. This is going to be tucked away in a menu somewhere unless you have an S on your wheel on top of the camera where the "Action" setting is.

You need to find out how to put it in "Shutter Priority Mode" this means that the camera will take care of the aperture for you. If not, go for the manual mode and you will have to do aperture yourself

For moving objects like bikes, you need a faster shutter speed, you camera can go as fast as 1/2000 of a second, to think that my clearest action shot I managed to get a Silverstone was 1/250 of a second, you have plenty to play with. Looking at your pics, the bikes are not going to be doing any where near the speed of the Silverstone bikes.

Problem with fast shutter speed is you do get a reduction in light, so that has to be compensated. To do this you need to change your film ISO. Yours ranges from 100 - 400 ISO. You will want 400 for faster shots. If you had film, a 400 ISO film would be more sensitive to light than a 100 ISO so it needs less exposure time.

Your Aperture ranges from 2.8 - 5.6, as I said, in the shutter priority mode the aperture will take care of itself.

Another tip I learnt with my S50, I tried to hardly ever use the zoom, it is just not good enough quality to do that, so I would try to get myself as close to the action as I could. That one with Andy with his knee down was literally just missing my shoulder when he passed me. On one take I thought he was going to clip me! Another point I should add is I took about 40 - 50 photos that day and I only walked away with a couple of good ones and I would say that the ones I was happy with are fairly dark and dull in the colour area as well. But I am still pleased with them.

Take loads and loads of pics, keep changing the settings, I wish I had moved my shutter speed much faster at Silverstone, I am sure I could have got them really sharp. Only thing is, when you are taking an action shot, it is nice to not go too fast on shutter speed so there is a bit of background blurring as you track the moving object, it gives a sensation of massive speed.

The first is with my D70 and the second is the S50, the first one looks really really fast, well it is, but that is portrayed in the picture.

To be honest buddy, I am a complete novice, I have done a bit of digging on the web and gone out and played with the camera. I have stood on motorway bridges taking photos of cars as they go under seeing what effects I can do and learning at the same time.

I like your second example picture, that's the kind of pictures I like, it looks very "cool" - I especially like the pictures that track day photographers take, as they seem to make even crap people look really good... I think it's because of the fast shutter speed and bright picture quality like yours Thumbs Up

I'll have another play I guess, if I don't get anything good then I might look to a Digital SLR if they do a cheaper one Laughing

Canon EOS300D would have been my second choice, I believe they are slowly approaching the £600 mark if you do a bit of digging online. Make sure you get on with a lens though, you can buy the body only.

but not for a longgg while yet, got other things I need..

Will definetly RTFM and see if I can get some better quality pictures from my Sony though!
