try bump starting it first to confirm it will start as that'll narrow the fault down to the starter components. turn ignition on, clutch in into 1st run along with bike when you gather some pace release the clutch quickly whilst twisting the throttle open see if it starts if it does pull the clutch in before the bike can run away from you, you'll probably need the choke on 2

there's probably still enough fuel in the carb to start the bike even with no tank so you should still be able to bump start it and see if you can fix your starting issue before fitting another tank

bridging the gap?

This isnt yours... but closest i cba to find Laughing

Something like this.. basically one side is connected to your batteries + terminal. Chunky wire.

Bridging the gap.. the gap between the 2 nut/bolt looking thing. I use a rubber handled screwdriver and get both of them touching with that. If it still clicks, try a different battery or check your starter/ground.

My battery is OLD and sitting there right now is 12.8V

if your bike happens to have an electrical fault such as a failed regulator then yes in a month it could have drained a new battery, or the solenoid he pictured above could have failed, the solenoid effectively transfers power from one of those terminals to the other when you press the button so if it's failed then your not getting power to the starter motor they have moving components inside and can click when failed or not getting enough power

he means the starter solenoid as pictured above, find your battery follow the positive lead it will go to a unit similar to that pictured above get a rubber handled screwdriver and use the blade to short the two terminals together you'll probably get some sparks but just ignore them and get the screwdriver held on there flat with the choke on the bike should start or just bump start it, once you know the bike will start you can then diagnose why it's not starting off the button

Well dont trust him then Laughing

Clean exhaust by removing it and bunging up one end, put caustic soda in, bung the other end up and leave it overnight.
