pro's and con's specific to dirt/trail kinda bikes in this case, but be interested in general.....lots still just use air cooling, but if thats fine, why complicate an engine with liquid cooling?

i thought wataer/oil cooled engines were also more effecient producing more out right power? the obviouse draw back tho is the added weight ____________________ Bikes owned :- 2001 nsr125, 1999 zx6r, 2006 yzf-r1, 2009 xmax 250, 2012 yzf-r1, 2015 MT-07

Air cooling is also problematic for multi-cylinder engines, especially V's, as the air flow round the engine isn't sufficient. It makes sense for a single cylinder off-road engine to use air-cooling though. ____________________ My Old CBR400RR | Bike Oil FAQ | Petrol FAQ |

Interestingly the manual for my GPz550 (air cooled) states that you should not leave the engine idling for more than 5 minutes as overheating and serious engine damage can occur. |
