I'm taking a Harley Fat Boy out for a test ride tomorrow. Should I be scared? Laughing

After seeing Robbys Sportster... I have "some" respect, it sounded immense and actually looks rather stunning.

Not familiar with the model you are looking at, but come back tassle free and straight pipes and we shall remain "friends" Laughing

Took one of the "sportier" 883 iron something or other for a test ride not so long ago. Most rubbish bike I have ever ridden, what's the appeal?

Slow, expensive, thirsty, crap ride position, engine felt like a second hand motor from an abandoned farm, fuel cap didn't even have a lock and the handlebars looked incredibly dodgy.

Didn't stop me from thrashing it (considering it was brand new) down the dual carridgeway before handing it back.

"Are they supposed to creak?" I said to the salesman as I jumped off. Overheated or something. Lolz.

Just to add, he said I could have it for the day. Handed it back after 20 minutes. Felt sorry for the guy. Genuinely.

Should think this forum isn't the best place to ask. Doesn't seem to be many cruiser owners on here.

Scared of what? The weight.? The slow turning compared to what you've ridden before, and how you rode that?

There is the 'image' thing but wouldn't think it'd bother you.

If it's a beautiful day and the roads are good then i reckon i could enjoy most bikes.

Just remember they are heavy and don't stop that well! so leave yourself some extra room, also if you ride them like sportsbikes they are hard work and very knackering but ride them like slow cruisers....... and just enjoy the ride.....you might be suprised!

Harley = fail.

Buell = Win.

You'll end up trying to ride it like a sarf east winnah anyway, and probably end up with it wrapped around a tree because you didn't realise that it doesn't turn, stop or handle.

I have no expectations of it being sporty or able to be ridden 'spiritedly', I simply expect to live. Laughing

I've done the sports bikes to near death (last four bikes were Blades) and while I'm certainly not too physically old for more I've had enough of that Appointment With Death mindset. With that in mind, if I have to go slow a Harley makes the nut in terms of ego-pandering and noise.

No, it has to be a Harley or it's nob territory I'm afraid. I have considered the middle ground with the likes of an Eddie Lawson replica, but that's death too. A Harley really is cool slow.

Ummm... why don't you venture in to adventure bike land rather than fat harley land? More choice there...+ trying to rev the tits out of a 600cc single won't be too nice so you'll go slow anyway...or the twins... mm the big twins are nice...

test ride something like a sit up KTM, Tenere or even Transalp (middle of the road), Af Twin, the new BMW F800GS....then if you don't like em get a Harley...

There's no ego in any of those. When it comes to biking I'm as shallow as a platform pizza. People need to hear and see me and recognize my AUTHORITAH!

Moto Guzzi is an acceptable old mans bike for people who haven't actually given up on life, or people who don't actually like wearing nothing but leather chaps.

If I didn't have a Buell, I'd probably have a Guzzi.
