On my way somewhere in Bristol the other day....

It was an unmarked/standard 125 of some sort. Maybe a ybr or cg.

He/she had an armless, hi-vis, with the blue/white police logo on the back, so very real and legit, but i just had never seen such a thing.

I followed right behind them for a little while, and found it quite amusing to watch, but i don't know why?!

Can get a screenshot of the vid if ya like Thumbs Up

It could be some form of budget police recovery.

I thought that they typically used a flat bed but road wars would have you believe that they drive a lot of the cars they take from bad guys back to the police station, maybe they were doing it to the bike?

Don't think so, but there's an unmarked blue BMW K1300 in Bristol. 04 plate, I think.

Not really hard to spot, the extra blue lights and so on rather give it away.

I've only ever seen the Plastic Police on those stupid things.
Not (yet) seen a real polis on one.

I thought that PCSO's vehicles had to be clearly marked as such?

You know, a big sign saying "I'm not a real police officer, please wait there until I call one", or "I'm just a grass with a badge" or similar...

Very Happy

Well, in an inner city scenario there's not really much advantage to anything over a 125. As a cheap way to get plod quickly to a shout it makes perfect sense.

As for the three wheelers they might look daft, but then again plod can arrive at an incident, just jump off and get on with the job without having to frig about with a side stand, those few seconds could make all the difference.

In London, they're silver Vespa ETs with a sticker on the side panel. Haven't stopped to read it, though, but I guess it probably says something along the lines above.

They're usually observed riding extremely badly and illegally, or parked on double yellows infront of a newsagent.

by us years ago they used to ride belt drive 250 scorpions complete with huge white rickman fairings, we reckoned they were trainee bike cops, we used to scream past them really close on our 350LC's, no wonder they turned into such bastards

All of that might be true, but the cops have a serious image problem, which has lead to a lack of respect.

There are many reasons for this, but tooling around on scooters is not helping; as much as they might think it shows they're being cost conscious and 'getting down wiv da yoof', da yoof (and us older guys) are laughing at them.

Not so long ago, 2 wheels + cop meant a well trained a rider, who could ride like Rossi, even on an R/K100.

Some short arse wearing a hi vis and blatting around on scooter, just doesn't hack it.
