Is it possible to fit a wider wheel onto a '02 NSR? was racing an rs125 and he had some huge wheel on the back, wouldnt mind doing the same as I reckon it would give me more confidence round bends at quicker speeds. If this can be done, any brands recommended? Got pirelli's as standard at the mo. Cheers guys!

skinnier wheels give you more corner speed so no, youre not allowed to do it Razz bleugh

Dont worry about RS125's, you'll pass him 10 miles down the road when it blows up Wink

do they? i thought wider wheels did that? so is it not possible to get a wider wheel at all?

The width of the wheels on a nsr are made because of the speed of it, you dont see r'1 with rubber bands!
If you put fat wheels on a nsr it probably wouldnt move Laughing

Well I actually meant to say agility. I can lap my local roundabout a fair bit faster than some bigger bikes cos its tight (cbr9's etc) so just live with it.

You could put a wider tyre on without changing the wheel. But dont. Trust me, it buggers the handling. My bike had oversize tyres on when I bought it and when I put new (proper size) tyres on it turned in loads faster.

what ^they^ said.... go and have a look at a 125cc GP bike.... it produces more power yet has tiny tyres!

Oh yeah, and if you do put on a bigger wheel then you have to dick around with sprockets to make sure that your chain stays aligned. If its out of line then you'll end up in a world of shit.

Yeah, and about a 50 mile tyre life! Bigger tyre gets rid of heat better, so can run a stickier compound (but like brakes). On a smaller bike using large tyres they will not get hot. The original Dunlops on the RS125 only got hot enough to really work once, and by that time I needed petrol!
