More telling required methinks.

Did you fix the problem where it wouldn't go over 60mph?

Not much Tell in 'ere. Razz

Snazzy little bike... i considered getting the 650 as 400s in good (original) condition were in short supply at the time.

I love my Bros. Do oil changes and they'll go on forever or so I'm told. I'm having the valve clearances done on Friday before I do a 1500 mile tour of europe on the thing. First time I've had a mechanic look at it since I bought it and fixed it a bit in November.

I've replaced the rear shock on mine because the stock one was pretty wallowy. How is yours?

It's still pretty lacking for two up but for my commute it's fantastic though...even if 80 is about 7000rpm. Get about 60mpg out of it, sometimes more.

They will do for now, they looked better in the pics on the bay Sad

If you want to remain a 'cool' biker there is only 2 things you don't do,

1 Put farbon (fake carbon) on your bike.

2 Tuck your jeans/textiles into your boots.

I loved my old Honda Bros...held the onsell price really well 4 years later, got mine fresh from the container from Box Hill Motorcycles way back when.

Was the bike I learnt my road-craft on. Thumbs Up

Good looking bike you've got there Thumbs Up I had one after passing my full test in 2008. If you're after some decent mods, I would recommend a Fuel exhaust can as these sound great and save a fair bit of weight over the standard can, braided brake line, and if you want to quicken the steering a bit then raise the forks through the yokes by about 15mm; that's how I had mine set up and I loved every minute of it, wouldn't mind having another if I had the money.

Also, for more mods and general servicing advice, check out www.hawkgtforum.com. The Hawk GT is the US version of the BROS but they're essentially the same bike.

I do this when it's dry...find it slightly warmer. Sad

I got bored of my standard exhaust...and the collector box decided to start sprouting holes. I was about to buy the Fuel off my friend's NTV650 when I saw a Yoshimura Stubby on ebay. Should be here by Monday at the latest. Mr. Green Might even replace my saggy old carb diaphragms and rejet it to suit...would be odd to have it idle properly and have choke jets that aren't blocked...

I guess my point is...they are great little bikes and will cope with whatever you throw at them (even 500 mile days for two up touring Laughing). Enjoy! Thumbs Up

How much did it cost you?

I just bought my own, '90 mkII, first registered '98,
25,000 miles / 40,000km with 2 new tyres for £550.

Not too keen on the red paint

I've changed the oil, air and fuel filters. was running lovely.

Now its a pig to start >.<

Changed plugs, new battery (the old one wasnt even a year old..)

gonna take the fuel tank off and clean out the tap today

Could also be the carbs being full of rubbish or the valve gaps being out.

I paid £330 for mine but the tyres were ancient and the brakes needed rebuilding amongst other things. It had been sat for about a decade. 25000km. '88 Mk1 registered '98.

over the past year the bikes done 1000km, Quite possible the carbs are blocked.

The fuel filter i changed asap, might be a matter of running it through.

I bought this to replace my CG125, mainly because I need something More powerful than that, but just as reliable.

Need to go guildford tonight, induction evening for the Bloodbikes! but it doesnt look like it will happen =[

Personally I'd just get it started with some redex or whatever and gun it for a few miles to help the blockage through the system. If it's a sudden thing then I doubt it's valve clearances. Premium fuel can also have additives which helps with carb cleaning.

I'm using Putoline Fuel Conditioner in it.

I've used redex before but alot of people have said not to, The valves sound okay at the minute, no taps, bit rough over 7k but I take it easy anyway.

Shell V power is very good at cleaning things, just make sure its converted to Unleaded. As i discovered my BMW R45 wasnt with a Cracked valve seat meeting the piston

Chris can I be let off that last one? The zips on the bottom of my textiles are kaput so I have to tuck them in, otherwise they flap about like a beef curtain.

Cool little bikes though, I may look out for one for a hack this winter.

No! Real men can use cable ties and gaffa tape to fix anything, they don't whinge and compromise. No excuses!

Wow! You are now my idol! What is the front end you have on the 400 from? Also, did you ever bother trying to tune a 400? Trying to work out, now I have a Yoshi can in the post, if it's worth rejetting the carb, getting pod air filters and chainging the gear ratios a bit so I'm not ragging it so much on the motorway.

If you are talking about the fairing on the front of the 400, i think that was a powerbronze creation. If your talking about my 650, the front end is a 94 cbr600 with oversize disc conversion, which will be going on the other halfs 650!
Didnt do anything to her 400, just serviced it, as her 1st bike it was spot on for handling and quick enough for fun!
