Hi guys

Well im looking at moving abroad.
My mrs is from Caribbean and wants some sun shine again.
It was one of my dreams always to try life outside the UK.
I'm a chef,fully trained blah blah

I'm hoping to keep my house in the UK.
What im curious about is will the tax man rape me for sending money back to the UK?.

I plan to relocate to Curacao as this is closer to my mrs island.

Any advice or experience on moving away will be awsome guys.

My sister moved to Singapore last year. For her house, she rents it out via an agency. You pay tax on the rent. But if you're resident in the UK you get the £7500 tax free bit anyway.

The iffy thing is being UK resident means you're supposed to pay UK tax on your overseas earnings as well. In reality everybody just keeps quiet about overseas earnings unless it is for an international company paid through the UK.

I'd keep it in cash if I were you as its a tax avoidance hot spot, so the UK taxman will probably want his 34% pound of flesh from you.

If you are moving abroad no problem, just tell the tax man you'll be non-resident for tax purposes and they will give you a NT tax code.
I had one whilst I was working in Singapore for a few years.
there is a form to fill in get it from the tax man just give them a ring and they'll send it to you or download it from the IR site.

Just DO NOT stay in the UK for more than 90 days per year.
Regards
Mike.

Hi guys that cool cheers.

Well the interview went great, need to have a chat with the general manager of the resort then see how much ££ they offer.

Curacao sounds heavenly and the chefs only work 41hrs per week.

That 25 hrs less a week!!
So tax man wouldn't sniff at me wording money to cover my morgage then??

we have a house in scotland rented out, but live in new zealand,
we have no dramas,
although we don't send any money back, the house maintains itself, with a little left over for emergencies,
my mrs has a student loan which she has to pay even though shes over here, apart from that no money goes to the tax man

A quite common reason for moving to Aus seems actually to be avoiding paying the SLC their loan back!
