CBF 125 "Head rattle"

Hey all.

Just today developed a rattle that seems to be coming from the head of my CBF 125 (2011). It only really seems to be most noticeable at 4k revs in 3rd or 4th gear, but i've never heard it before...

We have just recently installed heated grips, so I thought a wire may be rubbing on something, but there doesn't seem to be any wires loose enough to rub, so what could be the problem? I've read about people having a rattley (sort of rubbing sound) and it turning out to be the inlet valve?

The first thing I'd be checking is for loose bolts - engine mounts and exhaust might be worth a look.

The exhaust is definitely rattling, but that seems to be the baffles so I can't really do much about that... I'lll give the chain a good going over a bit later on, just to rule out a dry chain.

How's your oil? Have you been changing it? We've seen reports of them burning through it at a crazy rate.

I was told not to bother with the oil change until the first service (they will obviously do it for me), but there is plenty of oil in there. The first service is on tuesday so I am guessing they will tell me whats wrong with it, luckily its still under warranty.

I remember you mentioning how you yanked those bar end weights out? Maybe something broke on the inner ones, like the lugs that snap in place into the bars themselves?

They're not this. You'd be far better of doing it yourself.

Again though: if you're paying for maintenance on an Indian bike sold at Japanese prices, be damn sure that you get it back in full working condition.

If its had its service and the noise is still there and they fob you off, i'll see you saturday anyway. Quite happy to have a quick look.

Hey all, I have just had my bikes first service (after 1000 miles ) and the mechanic said that there is absolutely nothing wrong with the engine on my bike - he said that I want to have a look at getting another helmet, because he can't hear any rattling or anything... Weird eh?

Runs a lot smoother now though with a nice new drop of oil in, sounds a little better too.

:karma: if a bike is still under warranty they have to fix it by LAW...........so dont fiddle untill its out of warranty ( how can a supplier repair under warranty if youve buggered it...... )
