I've ordered some plugs for the Daytona off ebay, and I get this today:

Quote:
Hi there,

many thanks for your purchase and for your interest... Our warehouse has unfortunately reported that we are out of stock of this kit at the moment.. however our new batch will be in the warehouse in the next 5 working days

Im contacting you to ask if you would be okay to wait until the new stock arrives and we will dispatch this immediately as soon as it arrives into the warehouse?

Please could you let me know asap and sorry for any inconvenience caused, we appreciate your business and you are welcome back anytime

Now, I thought it was against Ebay rules to list an item you don't actually have?

The thing is, the are clearly aware of the problem but yet they haven't removed the listing from ebay which is taking the piss really.

Now I understand it is nice of them to message me and say they were out of stock, which is why I don't really want to send them a shitty reply, as well as they were actually the cheapest. I don't need the plugs for a while so I can wait no problems but its more the principle fact they they probably knew when I ordered the part, they didn't have it in stock.

Do you think it's rude for me to message back saying something along the lines of;

Quote:
Hi there,

Thanks for your message.

Whilst I understand it is difficult to keep track of everything you have in stock I see that after myself 4 other people have purchased this item, as the listing is yet to be removed from the site; which is against Ebay policy.

I would ask that as a gesture of goodwill for the inconvenience caused, I am refunded the £3.99 postage and the items dispatched immediately after the new stock arrives.

Thanks for your help

Am I just being a dick here?

Let me know what you think.

As I said, I'm not really bothered about the time. As you say, it's only 5 days.

Just more the principle.

it is pretty annoying - I bought a compression t shirt on ebay and heard nothing form the seller - after 12 days waiting and no top I filed a complaint and after ignoring all emails they instantly refunded me - seems it was actually out of stock. So when were they actually going to bother to tell me this? never it seems - big nationwide chain too. Lots of people/companies are using ebay as a shop selling gear that isnt neccesarily in stock - it is a little bit annoying.

To be honest though stuff like plugs id maybe be inclined to just go to local supplier for rather than ebay. Thumbs Up

Glad someone is on the same wavelength here. I mean what if I needed them for the weekend or something?

I would have got them for the shop but they are £10 a piece!!! Paid £12 less for the 4 plugs on the bay.

If it's that much more of an inconvenience, shop elsewhere.

You can't ask for a goodwill gesture.

I am fully aware that they shouldn't of kept it up, but I imagine it's a cost saving measure.

It's called life. It's annoying at times. It is not their fault that you need plugs. Just because they can't provide their service when you needed them doesn't mean they're to blame.

after some more digging I can get them for £22 elsewhere, which if they refund the postage is about the same. If they don't want to, I'll buy them from the other place.

Never mind, they've been dispatched.

An error on their part.

If I was constantly getting messed around then I would have sent them an email but as it’s only 5 days I personally wouldn’t have bothered. I know it’s principle at the end of the day but sometimes mistakes/oversights are made and the fact they emailed you to inform you of this would go down well in my book.
