Hi lads

Any good insurers for modified bikes.

My son turning 17 this month currently rides a Sachs Madass 50cc.

He a student and likes the bike but want to fit a 125cc engine which he has already got.

MCE just refused to Insure it as the bigger engine has a BHP increase of over 20%

What make me laugh is the 50cc Sachs Model is exactly the same as the 125cc model.

Any idea where i can get him insured ?

cheers

Why not get a 125 model?

Alternatively, if you're 100% sure it's identical, braking systems, frame and suspension. Then fit the 125, re-register it with DVLA as a 125, then insure it as a standard 125 sachs

Sometimes, insurance companies don't like it if the details of a vehicle don't exactly match what's on their system.

Try getting quotes by speaking to a couple of different brokers (rather than direct from insurance companies or comparison sites), let them do the work for you!

Simplest thing to do is sell the engine, sell the bike and buy a 125.

Whatever hassle you are having now you will have each year between now and forever, as will anyone else who buys it from you which will effect the resale value.

I think you'll find the simplest thing to do is to grind 124cc off the barrell and paint over it.

+1

Or sell the bike and just buy the 125 model...
