Slipping Heated Grips

I bought some Hein Gericke heated grips when they were on sale at the end of last year. They seemed to be fine for a while, attached with nothing but friction. However after a few weeks, when heated up the throttle side starts to slip until it gets so bad that I can barely accelerate.

I have tried reattaching it with carpet adhesive, which was rock solid until heated when it does exactly the same as before. Then yesterday I cleaned all that off and used some maximum hold hair spray...same problem.

Could this be a problem with my grips expanding when hot, or am I just using the wrong adhesive?

My oxford heated grips do the same thing, the throttle grip will slip slightly when on full power. Though I have yet to use any glue for them, mainly due to laziness

My grips did come with some glue, Im not sure what sets it aside from any other type of glue, but surely it will solve the problem.

See if you can get any grip glue from here/ebay?

my oxfords do the same, but remember if you glue them in place then the only way to get them off if needed will be to cut them, I get round it by wrapping electrical tape around the twist grip then fitting the heated grip so its a good tight fit.

i use hairspray for my grips, then always lockwire them on, stops any slip, try getting some lockwire.

I'll be heated grips come next winter, want to peeps think about JB welding them on ? that stuff afaik, besides claiming best cold weld in the world, can withstand temps aswell ???

I'd go with the lockwire option - it's what I do and my grips are on nice and securely.

Used the electrical tape idea and it seems to have them on nice and tight...but I snapped my throttle pull cable in the process.

Fitted my heated oxford grips and used conventional hairspray ..

This has worked fine and has only give me one slip of the clutch side fitted grip , this only happened on a trip down Wales last year in the middle of winter when the grips were turned up to 100% for around 200 miles cause of the intense cold .. I just felts a slight slip on the grip , so i turned it down to 75% and it was sorted when the cold crept back in .. Come on guys i clocked up 300+ miles that day anything would have melted at 10amp going through it for so long. When i fitted my grips initially i never turned them on until the day after, this gave the hairspray time to dry .. They used to build the beehive hairsyle with this stuff in the 60s and they danced until dawn and it never moved ....
