Films that are currently on my hard drive I sometimes stick on a usb stick that I place into the TV (via the usb port) in my front room to watch. Some films work with sound, others just play the film without sound. All files are AVI files and I have tried converting to different file types but still no joy. On my pc they all work perfectly. Anyone have any ideas? Confused

Yes. Encoding.

I had a little program called like avi to dvd or something, that converted/encoded videos in a way that let them play on home DVD players etc.

Depends on the version and encoding, hence why some work but others dont.

Theyll probably work on PC becuase you have the codecs (I use k-lite or VLC player)

Something like https://www.winavi.com/avi-to-dvd.htm might work, but don't take my word for it as I haven't tried this particular program and it has been a long time Thumbs Up
