So got my CBT done on Monday there, Anna at Livingston Motorcyle Training, was very helpful and made it a very fun experience for myself.
Had money there for my bike so got shopping, mainly looking at the trusty YBR. Settled on the 1 I wanted and picked it up last night. My god it was fun to get on my own. Wasn't chucking it about or trying to lean as much as I could or anything like that just mearly enjoying being out on the road and not having to walk everywhere haha. I must admit I gave it some to see what it would do and was kinda surprised as I thought it was gona be rediculously slow, but with a bit of head wind I managed about 73mph, so it will easily be good enough for the journeys I plan to take.
So anyway the bike...
2010 Yahama YBR 125, 3221 miles upon purchase, brand new rear tyre, just been serviced, very little damage but the usual wee scrape on brake lever and side of dial. £1400.
Oh and it's RED!!! I love red!
Can't wait to get back out but that shall have to wait till later tonight.
I am now looking for advice on a good cover for it. I need to keep it outside, so of course I need a good waterproof cover. I'd rather not kill my bank balance but at the same time I know money needs to be spent for good quality. Preferably something with clips underneath to keep it on in the wind.
Any recommendations appreciated.
Thanks. |

If its going outside worry about security!! realy worry about it.
I use an oxford rainex cover and it's done me good so far, seems well made too. It's got the clips on the bottom too.
Currently security wise i've got some massive armoured cable lock (for a pushbike admittedly, but it did come with 1500 quids worth of anti theft guaruntee on it...) Which goes round the rear wheel, chain and shock. On the front i've just picked up an oxford screamer, which is an alarmed disc lock and sets you back about 30 quid. Tbh all i'd realy like now is to get a ground anchor sorted out
And as for the colour...ppft. Everyone knows they look better in black

For security atm i have an Oxford Heavy Duty Chain, and will be getting a ground anchor sorted shortly hopefully. This alarmed disk lock sounds good though so I'll look into them tonight.
I had a look at the Oxford Rainex, just wanted ot see other recommendations if any. What size would I need for a YBR?
Yep definately above 70mph, I'm only 5ft6 and only weigh 61 kgs in normal clothes, so yeah I'm not too much of a parachute for it lol.
Went out for an hour just now, had my first BMW arsewipe up my shiter, impatient wanker he was. Alas bring on the fun.

Nice, I like the 11 model, very sleek, seems lower though
Hmm.... i've realised I don't have an L plate on the front of my bike... Err, is bad? I asked the guy in MCA in leicester and he said meh i never bothered putting my Ls on at all and you dont have a front number plate so it dont matter
But I doubt him because of the obvious...
I'm 6ft 4/5ish and a tad big for it really... Think I weigh a good 13 stone too ____________________ Fzr-600 1999 |

You need Ls bothe ends - 3 points per missing L. And it has to be the full size plate, a red L with a quarter inch white border doesn't count. ____________________ They're coming to take me away, ho-ho, hee-hee, ha-haaa, hey-hey,

The red ones ARE the most awesome, aren't they?
I also use an Oxford rainex, in large I believe. Just buy one of the wee bungee things to go through the holes at the front as well as the clip underneath won't hold it all down if it get a bit breezy.
Keeps mine nice and dry though ____________________ 'Just erotic. Nothing kinky. It's the difference between using a feather and using a chicken.'

Tidy looking bike in the fastest colour, definitely chain it to the centre of the earth.
Aldi have cheap covers in at the moment, might as well buy one and see how you get on, you're likely to trade the bike before the cover disintegrates. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.
