On my daily commute I do 24.9miles from my house to uni. I pass 13 speed cameras. That works out at about one camera every 1.9miles. The journey takes me about 45mins, so I pass a speed camera about every 3 mins.

If that isn't overkill I don't know what is!

Probably not far off the average for the male population as a whole.

All the best

I think all BCF members should pitch together and we can all buy an island. The island will be free from speedcameras and nasty men with laser guns in fluresent jackets and be a haven for bikers.

The Autovision system not only records the speed and number plate of the motorbike but also takes an image of the rider's face.
It's got to be great camera that can take a picture of the numberplate and the rider's face. Front and back at the same time!

I came across an interesting site last night which basically seems to be a forum where a load of motorists with too much money and time on their hands challenge speed camera tickets on the basis of legal loopholes.

However what I found really significant is that there is a challenge going through the legal process which basically puts forward the case that the Road Traffic Act breaches the European Human rights Act in that information extracted under duress (i.e. with threats) is used as part of the evidence to convict.

What they mean is the bit on the form where you have to sign to say who was the driver/rider and if you don't you can be liable to prosecution.

You can read the firsthand info here:

Yes I read the article this morning I cant see the point really as if they take a picture of my head in helmet all they are going to get is my eyes and top of my nose at best. Now can you really make a positive ID from that?

/me goes out to buy a scream mask just to make sure!

I was just about to ask how the system is supposed to get a picture of your face and the number plate, unless the bloke operating it spins around quickly when it passes, can't see that happening.
