Basically, long story short. My bike was in my garage for about 5 months (November-April). I finally decided to get the bottom end rebuilt on my 50cc Peugeot xps. After it was fixed i put the engine back in the bike, linked all the wires up correctly and checked there earthed, New spark plug, But the bike isnt making a spark when i kick it ? (the bike dont have electric start either because it has no battery.)
-
Is the a possibility that the guy who fixed my engine up didnt tighten the magneto up to correct torque settings ? or the flywheel ? (correct me if im wrong but im not 100% sure on how it works)
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Lee.
-
IMPORTANT EDIT:-
Before the crank siezed up last year i remember the bike cutting out and bogging alot during mid/high throttle. This just started happening one day while i was driving back home from work. The "bogging" never got any better and then a few days later the gasket blew and that caused water to flow down past the piston into the crank.
- Are these signs of a bad magneto ? And then with it being sat in my garage for a while could the magneto of just totally gave up on life ?
Again, thanks in advance.

From the workshop manual i would say it has a battery.

Unless item 12 is a fusion reactor?

Most on youtube seem to have electronic start too....

Can you post some pictures of your bike up and tell us what year it is? Did they come with electronic start after a certain year ?

Umm you need a battery mate.. Even race bikes that run a total loss wiring harness need a battery... Your little 50cc need a battery for the CDI to work.
Connect a battery and you will have a spark. Thumbs Up

Indeed it seems like it will needa battery for the ignition to function.

An adequate condensor may do the job as well.

Yup, you need a battery to power the CDI to get a spark.

Simples.

First of all thanks to all the responses, ive took some pictures, but my bike has blanked out buttons for electric start, and when i first got the bike back in 2010 i was riding it for nearly 2 years without a battery. Everything seems to be wired up correctly. The bike is a 2003 model and i think they started electric start on the later models like 2006+
Anyway here are the pictures:-

The only place i saw were the battery could possibly go was under the seat, but the plastic that it would sit in is very flimsy.
https://i41.tinypic.com/2hp3ts8.jpg (and too small ?)

This is were the electric start should be, But as you can see its just a blank.
https://i40.tinypic.com/2vklymq.jpg

This is the only wiring that i touched when i took the engine out and im almost possitive its right.

---Extra.
This is the new 21mm carb i put on. The 2 yellow fuel hoses ive labeld, im not sure which one is which ? Also are the 2 "things" i labeld in red actually breathers ? https://i44.tinypic.com/2hz4k8p.png (edited in paint)
https://i41.tinypic.com/30bzor4.jpg (normal picture before edited)

If they are breathers then im not sure what plugs onto the head (im on about the 2 gold "things" ?

---
Thanks guys and yes, i know im a fool taking on a job that i wasnt sure how to do but hopefully "we" can get my bike running again.

Matt578 Could you please give me a link to the full manual ?
Martay Yes i had the plug threads on the engine casing and pushing the kick start down to see if there was a spark and there isnt.

Thanks matt, While it was dark last night i had the key in the ignition and gave the bike a few kicks, The lights on the dash started to glow a bit when i was kicking it, but still no spark.
Does this mean anything ? or is it useful info ?
Cheers.
