Eyyyyyyyyyup Boffs of BCF.
Looking to store the bike in something substantial.
First choice is the nicely sized space in the lounge but the hallway is too tight Sad

Live with a house either side of me in modern house. Got a large Tarmac drive which can park two estates on with ease and two motorbikes on... Buttt!! I am feeling rather precious about my new R6 arriving and having to live under a bike cover.

Now my daft question is... Would it be possible to somehow park a bike in this shed thing...

Would it even be possible to manoeuvre a motorbike inp one of these? Got enough room to park it outside kitchen window on the drive but would have to back the bike in backwards like you would parallel park a car. Know it would be limited space height wise and would be really right but you reckon it would possibly be done?

Cheers a bunh!!!

Why don't you just build yourself a garage/shed that way it will suit your dimensions and you don't have to worry about forcing it into something like that.

That could be the answer to your moving needs.

The Neighbours window would be obscured if I put anything bigger or taller than this. So I really have my hands tied as I would love something more sizeable but just can't be done Sad

That or one of the bike barns.

A 7' shed will be the external measurement,so smaller internally, an R6 is 6'9" so even at an angle it will be ridiculously tight.

I'd say it would be a bit of a squeeze to fit a bike in something you couldn't walk into, at least while crouched over. Couldn't say for sure if your bike would fit, but at the very least you'll want some space to walk beside it to kick the stand up and wheel it out.

Here's the thread showing what I made:
https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?p=3184310#3184310

In total one side and the front cost me £140 to do in shiplap, which is what a lot of sheds are made of. (Not accounting for labour as it was done by me.) Then the frame itself if I remember right, would be in the region of £50 - £80 (that's a guesstimate btw.)

It's about 2.8 metres long, by about 1.7 metres wide. The highest part is 1.9 metres and it slopes down to 1.4 metres. It's a little pokey inside with the bike in, but highest on the left (the side I get on/off the bike) and there's even enough space to work on the bike if it's raining. Enough gap to just about get all the way around.

Bike is a CB500 btw, '96 model. If you can find dimensions for that, and work out the difference between it and yours, you could estimate a decent size you'd need for a bike shed.

B&Q also do a few sheds in flatpack for not a bad price, all you need to do is assemble the walls and roof to the floor. Add a ramp and you're good to go.

That just gave me an idea for an awesome bike storage solution. A small box, just slightly bigger than the bike with hinges on 3 walls and the roof. The front and back walls fold flat to act as ramps, as does the side wall, and the roof lifts up hinged on the non folding side wall. Then you open it up, wheel your bike into position, fold it all up and padlock it. You could even anchor it down onto concrete with some nice big bolts.

I can make a mock up in 3d if you're interested?

I thought of something similar. Solid base, the back wall was on hinges, and locked in place when you stood it up. The side walls were arched and the front wall and roof were more of a roller shutter that rolled from the bottom to the back board (over the bike)

I can't make a Three-D model though Laughing

I use Google sketchup, it's brilliant for that sort of thing and free. Pretty easy to get to grips with too. I don't know how it compares to other 3d modelling software as I haven't used anything else, but it's fine for what I use it for.

Actually never heard of it before. So I'm taking a look now. Cheers for that Thumbs Up

I'd be concerned that thing would blow over and take the bike with it!

my garage is 7'4" wide with a 7' opening. I can get my bike (Triumph Speed Four) in at a slight angle behind the car (much less than 4') My bike is almost bang on 7' long.

You have to approach it backwards, standing on the kick stand side at a very shallow angle, then lots of backwards and forward at opposite full locks.
