i was looking at my bent up cbr400 zaust
and cut it open to find they are heavily baffled in the can and the pipes

Pretty Sound and performance restrictive me thinks

That doesn't look that bad for a standard pipe to be honest. I've seen some boxes where the in pipe doesn't connect to the out pipe. As such the gasses have to work through the can and a few chambers in there before getting out.

Now they are restrictive.

Whats the likelyhood of grey 400cc's passing MOT's without original 'zorsts or full on race pipes? It seems that 99% of NC21's - 35's have race cans? Just interested as i'm contemplating getting a 400 after i've passed my test.

I think certain places will let you do it. I don't know any though. Maybe if you're already friendly with one of the mechanics or something.

If you do get a bike with a race can. Try and make sure the standard can comes with it. It's a 2 minute job to change the cans over so it's not any big problem.

As long as the pipe doesnt say race use only or word to that affect it will pass an mot unless its very loud.

If you live anywhere near Ascot just bring it to me and I will mot it for you.
