Well I passed my DAS last october and brought a lovely CBR600 F2 1993(us import) In march of this year had it on the road for around two and a half months.

When I first got on it the adrenalin rush from the acceleration was Enough of a hit for me. But slowly this has worn off and I find myself seeking a more intense experience or buzz whether it been doing a three figure speed down a dual cartridge way or Pushing it around twisty's a bit too hard. Every time I am out on it I push it a bit further.

So I am at the point now I am saying to my self "your riding on the very limit of your ability calm it down"

Okay Ive been riding bike for about a year including my time spend on a 125 and really speaking I don't know that much. I think basically what I am saying is I don't want my confidence to over take my skill, as the smallest fuck up can have dire consequences whilst on two wheels.

Iam thinking of doing bike safe perhaps.

After saying all of this, I am considered the most restrained/sensible rider of my circle of friends. As they ride balls out knee down everywhere.

Bike Safe is just a taster, I'd give IAM or RoSPA a try. You will (depending on the group) be encouraged to Make Progress on NSL roads, just hopefully with more of an awareness of what's going to kill you.

Get some crash-fairings on your bike and go push it past its/your limits on a track so you can feel what it's like to come off in relatively safe conditions, then apply your findings to road-riding.

Have you managed kneedown yet? How large are your chicken strips? I'd say if you chicken strips are over a few mm in size and you haven't had kneedown, there's still more to be learnt. Thumbs Up

Trackdays? Get it out of your system. It puts your road riding into perspective.

My mate is doing RoSPA and riding with her now is a completely different experience. She's learnt so much road-craft, is much more confident and at ease with her bike...it's good to see.

That said she is massively more safety conscious now, and does follow the speed limits...so whilst it might not be as spirited a ride of old, it is largely down to following her, that I've seen rogue policemen and their speed-camera's in plenty of time.

(I've recently got a new bike, with screen, and find myself speeding before I've realised it!! Shocked )

You neg rated my post boring? Laughing

Are you actually being serious with your 'advice' above?

EDIT: I guess you are since you neg this post also. Mr. Green

So what you are saying is small chicken strips and getting knees down is indicative of rider ability?

My friend who has been riding for 20 odd years has never got KD, he is however an extremly capable rider and I have never seen anyone get past him on a bend.

You are clearly one of the 'all the gear no idea' type of rider. Rolling Eyes

I'd like to see your chicken strips and knee sliders and then compare them to your level of riding ability. Thumbs Up

Kneedown just gives him something else to do rather than having to upgrade bikes.

Chicken strips obviously DOES matter! If you have massive chicken strips then something aint right.

And you know what, I'll be happy to show you mine. Smile

Lets see your chicken strips mate?

Chicken strips DONT matter.

I don't need to show you my chicken strips, I have no shame in saying mine are bigger than yours. I'm not sad enough to take pictures of them. Maybe you should get out more Wink
