With the advent of Goretex it seems everyone has forgotten how to make boots waterproof. Go to Millets or any of the outdoor stores and buy any one of a number of waterproofing waxes to put on the boots, apply once a week and you will have waterproof boots - guaranteed if they are leather - even cheap ones.
Goretex is good but it can and does split in the boot causing leaks. If that happens and the boots are otherwise in good condition just revert to the wax treatment. Unless of course you have loads of dosh to splash about |

I've just checked mine as i was sure they were just bog-standard hein gerike ones. . . .they're not, they're Frank Thomas Aqua ones. I feel bad now as i posted in a different thread some time ago telling someone how good gerike boots were
They weren't too pricey and have been properly waterproof for a good few years. They've been sat unused while the bike's been off the road but on the rare occasions where i've used them as a warmer alternative to wellie boots for tramping about in they've still been waterproof ____________________ smile and be happy. . . .it gets right on everyone's tits! |

Goretex lined army surplus boots. Cheap, long lasting, fine on and off the bike. Mine have been tested sloshing through Highland peat bogs in lashing torrential downpours.
+1 to dubbin although TBH I just keep mine well polished because I am a homofag tart dapper.
Failing that, SealSkinz waterproof socks, although they do get cold if they get soaked on the outside. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

After my Prexports finally died, I bought a pair of Alpinestars Ridge Boots when they were on sale (think I paid £90) :-
https://www.onyerbike.net/clothing/Boots/Alpinestars/Alpinestars_Ridge_Waterproof_Boots
Comfy enough to wear around the office all day and completely waterproof so far, but I've only had them 3 months so can't comment on long term waterproofnessitude. ____________________ Chances are quite high you are not in my Monkeysphere, and I don't care about you. Don't take it personally.

Waterproof socks / gortex socks...they last forever, they fit inside all boots (so interchangeable), don't cost the earth, are washable, AND fairly cheap. Also perfect at walking about in wet grass when camping...keep the foot perfectly dry. ____________________ Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter won't mind - Dr. Seuss |

I bought some Bullson boots from Hein Gericke a short while back.
They've performed very well in the recent bad weather to and from work so far. |

I've had my RST Raptors for about 7 months now and they've fared pretty well.
No noticeable leaking and I've ridden through monsoon-type downpours quite often.
Just bought some Nikwax leather waterproofing wax to sustain the waterproof-abilty. |

Goretex liners?
Pah, if you're a cheapskate a couple of *supermarket of choice* carrier bags will do the trick.....
But going back to the point. When I ride in the rain I wear hiking boots rather than bike boots (Brasher ones) and I've never had a problem as long as the boots are inside my trousers. ____________________ Sod falling in love, I wanna fall in chocolate. |

You might be better off spending a tad more and getting a decent pair of waterproof boots, e.g Spent 90 on your Spada ones, another 40 or whatever on these ones, supposing they are no good!
I've heard good things about Sidi black rains too ____________________ 07' Honda Hornet now full powaah! My guide on performing an oil change! |
