Long story short, picking my friend up from work...

Car comes across my lane, we collide, friend goes flying over the top of me lands on car, I end up on the floor.

One bent front rim, bent front forks, smashed belly pan, huge dint in tank, from what I could see. Well - there goes my bike for the summer!

Just a nice huge bit of bad luck to top all the other shit off. woohoo!

I should just paint a target on my next bike I think.

Sad At least you should get 100% for that and hopefully some personal injury money to go and buy a new bike.

Never really had an issue with the insurance when it comes to replacing cars and bikes.

Are you and your friend both uninjured? You don't mention in your post?

There is however a silver lining to your story; we don't have summer in England so you're not missing out on too much.

Hopefully your claim goes through quickly so that you're back on the road as soon as possible. Smile

You must be on first name terms with your personal claims manager by now though. Wink

Summer is the wet, humid bit that falls between the new lambs bouncing around in the snow/sleet and the leaves falling off of the trees in the rain. Maybe you stayed inside that day and you missed it Laughing ?

OP - sucks about the bike. Did you get witnesses? Are you both uninjured?

Sorry to hear about your bike mate. Depending on witnesses etc it shouldn't be too long before you're on two wheels again.
Also, pursue any injuries you have as the "compo" may pay for xmas!
Same with your gear, try and find some receipts!

eBike got me £4000 in personal injury within about 3 months of being knocked off, and then another £400 for uninsured losses a month or so after that.

Saying that, there was no way the third party could of contested it, as I managed to take pictures of him clearly shown on the wrong side of the road.

No idea mate, every way I turned, he turned towards me, and then said 'I didn't know where I was going'.

He pulled out of the service area on the right there.

Rolling Eyes

snorty, did you get any witnesses, photos or anything? Hopefully it could be as clear cut a case as mine was, like I said was a matter of a couple of months for me to get paid out. They wrote the ZXR off as well, and I got to buy it back for £150, so I got £1100 for the bike. Used to have 'Knock me off, I need the money' written on the plate as well, seemed to have worked in my case, Laughing.

Even though the accident was not your fault, you'll still have to declare it on your insurance renewal for car and bike and they'll load you with an extra premium just for the pleasure.

Same happened to me and my car insurance went up £100. FFS

Dread to think what my next bikes insurance quote will be.

Apparently the accident is registered on the motor insurance database (M.I.D) and the insurance will check your details against it. Could result in fraud charges if you don't disclose any accidents.

It really pisses me off that they do this, and will continue to do so for the next 5 years. Not Happy. Sad

Mate flew over the top of me and landed on the car bonnet, my balls pressed against the tank with such pressure there is now a huge dint.

Neither of us have broken anything just the usual aches and pains associated with coming off.

Sorting insurance out now, the guy didn't exactly admit blame or say much after the accident, despite cutting across my lane from the opposing side of the road to turn off to his right.

Oh well we shall see what happens now.
