Under the guidance of a couple of experienced bikers who do all their own servicing, etc (combined experience totals 60 years!) I've managed to adjust my own chain last night. Thumbs UpVery Happy Though I did I take a back seat for the fitting of the scotoiler a couple of weeks ago. Wink I'll get into this technical stuff yet!

Nice one Thumbs Up It's good when you manage to do something without the help of others Thumbs Up What are you going to learn next?

I hate adjusting chains Rolling Eyes never learnt how tight they /should/ or shouldn't be so just set it to what I think is right then ask someone to double check Laughing

I'm getting old as have a scottoiler planned for the thundercat, along with heated grips and some luggage Cool Crying or Very sad Twisted Evil Laughing

When I adjust my chain I always make the mistake of setting the 'sag' when there's no-one on the bike. Rolling Eyes Then when I sit on it the chain is a bit too tight Evil or Very Mad Gah!

Can I ask how much the scottoiler cost btw?

I got it for £60 got some disconut due to my local MC club being in with the bike shops. Very Happy The guys I mentioned fitted it for me, so no mechanics fees. I think generally they're aboout £75 plus fitting. It should take an hour at most for an experienced mech. Smile

Why is there always a 'tight spot' on the chain run?

When I bought the Scottoiler, I read the fitting instructions with a white face Shocked 'Drill into the carb mount!'

However, I was determined, so I woke up the next day with a need to do it. With some help from my girlfriend, we managed to get it working in about 3 hours. It was also the first time I had stripped a bike past the airbox, so it was a lesson in itself.

I recommend DIY Thumbs Up

Fuzz - I watched the guys put it on my bike and I was cringing at that point too. Very scary seeing somebody take a sharp object to your (bikes) vitals. Shocked Just as well it all went swimmingly. Thumbs Up They checked it over last night too and according to them it's working perfectly. Smile

Yeah, it's sort of like a cheap coconut or somebody acting crazy at a club. Thumbs UpWink Rarely are my typos that humorous, usually they're just extremely and painfully stupid. Like my punctuation. Confused

Just let your front sprocket oil seal leak like mine. Then gearbox oil will lubricate your chain as you ride. Idea
