Poole Quay Bike nights. Every tuesday 6pm April to September if I remember rightly. Despite it being just down the road from me (sort of, I'm in Christchurch or Bournemouth depending if I am staying at my place or Gf's place) I have yet to actually go Smile

I've been a few times, but last time I went a couple of years ago they tried charging me. Bike parking is free, they can fuck off.

Haven't been back. Laughing

Depends if you park outside the bike area, as they collect the money as you ride through.. Saying that ive not been this year yet - so might of changed? But past few years they have charged £2.

Which way do you go? I can't really think of any nice riding roads inbetween skate and poole.

It's £1.00 or if you go regularly it's worth getting an armband which costs £6.00 for the season, but there are limited numbers of these and they normally sell out during April. Residual cash at the end of the season goes to charity.

It's a good night if the weather is nice and IIRC there have been around 2000 bikes on a busy, sunny evening before according to the blurb.

The Quay closes to all traffic in the afternoon and then opens for the bikes at 5pm I think - I do know that if you're later you have to ride all the way down the Quay and park a fair way away which makes for a bit of a trek in kit and hot weather. I sometimes find it's better to drive down and wander around looking at the bikes in more comfortable kit!! Embarassed

Just a couple of things to remember - there are quite a few static cameras on the lights and dual carriageways into the town. There is also quite a high and prominent Police presence both on the roads and at the Quay (they're usually promoting the Bike Safe stuff). They don't tend to be too picky if you're not being stupid, but worth bearing in mind!!

Here you go, have a linky

When I used to go we would ride up through the forest from Lyndhurst to Christchurch which isn't too bad. On the way back we'd go past Ringwood then turn off of the A31 at Picket Post and ride back to Lyndhurst that way. Its quite a nice wee route.

Now I have another bike (as of today Very Happy ) I'll probably start going again although I usually only go a couple of times a season as it can get a bit samey.

A31 to A35 - might not seem alot to some, but makes a nice difference to what I do to work each day.
Normally meet up in Scum, then go the route I posted.
