Anti climax after MOD 2 pass

YAY I passed my MOD 2 took me 3 tries Silly mistake first test, too complacent on second and just took my time and passed on the 3rd. I rushed straight home to find the bike I want. Not an expert on bikes so I am basing my choice on looks and power I want a 600cc as I found the 500 on my test was just lacking and I wanted to progress a bit. After all next year you need to do the test on a 600 so its still just an entry level bike. I like the look of the Honda CBR600f I am 34 live in North London and have a full car license too. I went onto those rodents website to get a quote and a cuddly toy. average quote was £3,500!! Stunned I went onto that fat welsh blokes website and he quoted me the same average. Left confused I had to obviously use that site and again more confusion at the high quotes. Though motorbike were suppose to be cheaper... did I just wasted 2 weeks and £1200 passing my MOD 2 only to never afford to insure a bike?

When you passed your car test you never went out and bought a TVR?

It's probably because of the sportiness of the bike. As you're 34 it should drop quite significantly after a few years experience/ncb on the bike.

It's about £400-500 to insure a Hornet for a year for me, I'm 21 and only passed 2 weeks ago, so it'll be down to the bike & possibly your area etc.

yeah was for the CBR600. Ill look at the commuter bikes as suggested and wait for my experience to rise and insurance to reduce before getting the bike of choice.

Whats your total budget?

600 Naked of your choice and TPFT, see what comes up. My Hornet was less than £300 with no NCB at 22. My 675 isn't much more than that now and it is far faster and more expensive.

My guess is the words "Sport" on the logbook scream "OMG 150mph into at tree in the first 3 weeks" yet if it says commuter/standard you are doing 30mph everywhere in full gear.

I hate insurance.

Did a quote (For teh lulz) on a TVR 350i via someone else £6000 -_-

I'd have rather pulled £500 out my arse

EDIT: Look at other (Commuter) bikes too don't take that as a reccomendation, check out hornets, fazers, vfr? (I think they come under tourers?)

I'm 18 and assuming the day I take out insurance is the day I pass my mod2 I'm getting quotes of £600 for SV650's and £800 for Yamaha Thundercats.

But can't get a quote under £9000 for a CBR600f.

I was looking at CBR 600F from '97 last Saturday and checked insurance and cheapest for it was 164 TPFT. I'm 35, car license since '97, clean all time.

My home address is Tottenham and that is having an impact. I have a locked shed that I will put bike it at the back of my garden ( so in a sense a garage yes) I got quotes of around £1000 for a 2007 hornet so looks like its just too early for the CBR600f. ( i also looking at fully comp quotes as apposed to TPFT)

Holy shit, note to self never move to London.

Passed my test at 33 twelve months ago (have car licence since 17 years of age) bought a brand new Kawasaki ER6F and insured it fully comp for £260.

Came down to £210 with 1 year NCB. I also bought a 98 ZX6R recently and insured it 3rd party for £190 quid.

I can only assume that where you live and where the bike will be kept is having a massive impact on insurance.

I'm just waiting to take my mod 2, bought a GSXR600 based on good insurance quote of £700 fc. I'm 26, female, no biking history at all. Not sure why your quote is so expensive. I wouldnt look on comparison sites I tried a couple and got stupid quotes. I rang and spoke to 3 insurance companies, came back with better results.
