You can transfer your insurance to a difference bike, there will be a charge for it as the RS costs more to insure than an RS and they will add on a bit as an admin fee, the simplest solution would be to ask your insurance company "Can I change my policy to an RS125?", the phone doesn't bite. Razz

no i dont want to change it to an RS125, i did try to change it to an RS125 before having phoned them, and they said i would need to pay for it to change, but i didnt have to pay for it to change it to the CG, from the GS, im asking if i would have to pay to change it from a CG, to say, a cb/gs 500, as im doing my full test very soon

Yes, you will do insuring a CB500 will cost lots more than insuring a CG125, ring your insurance company to find out how much it'll be.

There's no one answer to this, you really just have to call and ask.

Neither of my previous policies have been able to be upgraded when I changed bike, but plenty other peoples' have. Depends on the company.

The reason it wont have changed from the GS to the CB is that there both 125s with about the same power/safety/nickability etc. so the quote will have been the same. Your insurance will go up if the capacity increases as there is more power etc.

earlier this year I changed from an Aprilia RS125 to my CBR600. Once I passed the test and informed the insurance company they sent me a cheque to make up the difference on the aprilia with a full licence (£8.32, bestill my beating heart!!). When I wanted to change bikes I had to pay another £145 to insure the CBR for the remainder of the year, (about eight months, this was on top of the £440 odd for the RS). Just recently I've had some bother with the CBR and switched back to the RS, for this I had to pay a £15 admin charge.

This is all with Carole Nash, I think thats through Red Star or something. Not too bad I think, plus when the CBR went belly up they came and picked me up from town free of charge!

Ive been totally shocked overall, theyve been really flexible. In my experience they are normally a bunch of tossers. If they make you cancel one account to start another you will lose no claims etc and cash. You have to ask is it worth it?

good luck either way and good luck with your test Wink
