I can't see a reason why you'd get anything other than a joke A1 license.
However, you'd get a more official lie if you asked the DSA.
Don't let it come to that, eh? ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

No, from what I gather you'll be restricted to a 125 for ever if you pass on a 125 ____________________ Mod 2 passed 26/10/2011

This thread might clear things up (there are a few discussions like this if you search).

In a few words, after Jan the bike you are tested on is the size you're limited to for ever, unless you take another test on a bigger bike - with all the hassle that brings! ____________________ If you can keep your head when all about you

Just move to the Isle of Man
You can pass your test (none of this mod 1 & 2 stuff) on a 125 and then buy any bike you like. You just have to have an R plate and keep it under 50mph for a year (like I even do that now )
The only down side is, most of the roads are shite and you can't ride far before you have to turn around and come back. Unless you have a submarine/bike hybrid. |

I'm my own victim of being too relaxed about the whole business. I should have researched what all the fuss about the tests was earlier in the year.
If you do pass yor tests after 19th of Jan do you have to wait a whole two years to take the tests again on a more powerfull machine? Or take the tests anytime? |
If you passed tests on 125 post Jan 19 and got an A1 only licence, then there is a qualifying period of two years before you can take tests for A2....
By rogers interpretation of what looks like they have slipped through onto the statute books.... I'm still trying to de-cypher.....
There's no caveot that prevents direct access to A2, and Direct access to A3 is retained.
So in THEORY, if you are over age of eligibility, you might be able to re-test at any time to upgrade, without waiting qualifying period, either to A2 if over 19 or to A3 if over 24..... But dont quote me!
Think the hinge-pin is whether they get this 'upgrade by training' idea off the ground, in which case single testing, and doing a suped up CBT on a bigger bike to upgrade to it, you'd probably have to wait out teh full two year qual-period... or double/tripple test. ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!
