alrite lads!

just paid for an 88' cbr400 (nc23) with 40,000kms in very good condition, got a free micron can and paddock stand Wink with full mot

had a breif ride out and it was a fair step up from a derbi gpr to say the least!!!!

just need 2 get my test sorted now, heres a pic (not very good)

https://premium.uploadit.org/cliffe/cbr400.jpg

can you lot give me any tips on what to look out for on these bikes, problem wise? (a bit late lol) , it has good brake pads front and rear, little wear on the disks, good tires, chain and sprockets looked ok, fork seals were fine, anything else specific to these bikes?

Thanks/

ooooh, I like it. Looks best in black:D For the guys with ALL the knowledge on 400's join up to another forum, 400greybike or something like that, theres a packed cbr400 owners group in there.

Not trying to take away anything form this forum, theres plenty who'd be helpful, but I think that forums excellent for 400cc help.

Can't beat this forum for everything else though, stick around Smile

Charging system -regulator/rectifiers. Thats about it on the tri-arms (that I can think of anyway). Pretty reliable bikes. Just dont neglect them. Keep them serviced, and it should be fine.

Fuel pump contacts can wear down quite fast (happened on mine) but should be ok, and its a cheap fix anyway.

Cbr4s have light rear shocks, only a "problem" if you weigh quite a bit.

My Gullarm has just under 47,000kms now and the engine runs so nicely... Hondas are built to last.

Make sure you get the standard can for MOTing. Thumbs Up

... like me! Wink

Get someone who "knows" bikes to check the suspension - front and back can / will go off over time. Earlier CBR600 rear shocks swap right in, later ones fit with a custom linkage e.g. from Graeme France (NC23 guru - www.graemefrance.com). This raises the back and sharpens the steering. Also, I put heavier oil in my forks and extra preload (and new seals!), but I'm a heavy so-and-so...
