This might sound like an odd question, but how much do you weigh?
If you don't weigh a lot then it might be that the rear shock is not compressing enough to allow the rear tyre to grip properly.
The SV650S has quite a hard rear shock as standard, and so knocking a notch off of the preload might help.
Or it might just be you need to have confidence in the bike...
The same sort of thing happened to me with my Triumph, and the rear shock was so hard that I span the rear going round a roundabout.
Tell me how much you weigh and I'll see if thats the problem ____________________ British beauty: Triumph Street Triple R; Loony stroker: KR1S; Track fun: GSXR750 L1; Commuter Missile: GSX-S1000F

Hi, I weight 11 stone (no fat jokes plz) . My bike hasnt got the standard rear shock on it oh its been fitted with a Penske race shock which at the moment is fairly stiff. I through this would help keep the rear wheel on the ground oh? |

Your penske shock is undoubtedly too hard.
Read my suspension FAQ and set the bike up correctly.
It is a common misconception that with rear shocks, the harder the better. This is not the case. You need your weight to compress the shock so that when it hits a bump or pothole there is movement available either way - up or down.
If the preload is too high there will be no downward movement available, and the shock will not compress so the bike will kick off of bumps.

010s rock, certainly shouldn't have any problem with them so yeah it's either you being paranoid or your suspension is a bit 'ard. |

I love this how the topic can completely change. Youve got to find it funny how it suddenly goes from rear tyres & shocks to Body mass calculation
p.s Im sorry if i have offended any one |
