Decide to cycle the 17 miles to work this morning, first time.
Decide to take my dads Rocky Mountain ac30, best part of £1500 new and only get them in North America.

Inadequate lighting on bike and getting a speed on, hit a fucking gate across a cycle path!

Couldn't see the count in complete darkness until I hit it.

If he has any common sense, it'll be named on the house insurance.

It's a racer, I had a hell of a speed on. Bike and myself went straight over the fucking gate.

Best part is telling my dad then paying him a grand for it.

Do you reckon I could get it braced by a decent Ali welder?

No, but I reckon you can get a decent Alu frame for about £200....

I'll see what he wants to do, he was on about getting the spec stunt jumper anyway. Failing that I probably get him a roubaix or similar.

Not exactly legal to chain a gate shut across a cycle path/right of way (assuming it's all legit) ...

Can't get my head around spending £1500 on an alu framed bike. Steel or Carbon maybe...

Yes this is a cycle lane from Witney to Oxford it is gated with a footpath round it. Coundnt see in the dark with shit light, btw I am not 30 stone more like 12 lol but I had quite a dap on because I left late.

JonB it's an Ali frame with Carbon forks, carbon chain stays etc. it was bought in the US while he was working over there a couple of years ago. I think a carbon frame would have just snapped to be honest.
