 |
|
...and saddle from my Dahon D7 Speed. Some little rotter nicked it last night, was only parked outside Tesocs for ten minutes Went straight to the nearest bike shop and was told that I need to get a Dahon replacement, no one else makes the right size (I think it's 33.9mm??) but that no one stocks Dahon parts at the moment.
Does anyone know any different?? I am in London, surely (don't call me Shirely) there must be a shop somewhere in the whole city that would have the right size...any advice would be appreciated!

Shouldn't think you'd need a genuine Dahon part to replace, maybe just call some shops and tell them what's happened, and you'd need a 33.9mm seat post (and seat )
Sucks, but that's why I don't put quick releases on my seat posts any more. |

Take a piece of old drive chain, thread it through a slice of inner tube. Loop it through the frame and up through the rails of the saddle then rejoin it. Secure the ends of the inner tube with a cable tie.
Do it so the loop is pulled tight at your normal maximum seat height to prevent it rattling.
It's about the only useful thing you can do with a worn out bit of drive chain. Most saddle thieves will not be carrying a chain tool on them.
As below but I'd have looped it through the frame where the seatpost meets the toptube and through both saddle rails then you can get at the QR lever easily if you want to drop the seat on the go.

The other one you can do if you don't need QD is fit it using allen head bolts then put a ball bearing in the allen head and fill the recess with candle wax. You can easily remove it when you want to by melting the wax out with a lighter but theiving scrotes are not noted for their intelligence and probably won't notice this. It will make it too much like hard work to steal and they'll pinch someone elses instead. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen.
