Hey again!

Looking up at picking up a er6-n in the next few days and have got all my lovely quotes, however there seems to be no option for adding the 33bhp restict kit onto the policy, now the question only gives you the option for full, learner or EU options so what should i do here? any advice/tips?

Cheers in advance guys

Full.

Don't even tell them it's got a restrictor in it as they will just make you get a Dyno which will leave you out of pocket...

Only if they ask if you are on a restricted licence then declare it... and hope they don't ask for a dyno print.

My insurers already had my details so I just told them the model, year and licence plate and they were ok... but they were aware I was on a <25kw licence so were asking for a dyno print out... managed to get away without one though after getting a signed letter head from a local garage saying the "Restrictor Plates fitted and working correctly"

My insurers asked for a copy of my licence and proof of NCB. They never asked about the restrictor kit Smile

You have a full licence, albeit with a restriction, so that's what you should select.

What's the point? If you have a bad accident or run some over and the police confiscate the bike to find out you were not riding within your license, you will be in a world of shit with suing/jail sentences etc.

I never said don't put it in... I just said don't declare it, save hassle and money in the end as they won't try get you to jump through hoops for them by getting dyno print outs etc.

Read the post properly next time, rather than skipping over it and looking at certain words.

My insurer never asked me for a restriction certificate. I've had two offs and in neither of those instances have I been asked to produce the document to support the restrictors installation.

Insurance firms are slippery. I wonder if they found out your bike WAS restricted and you hadn't declared it, whether they would have any legal basis to void your claim because you didn't provide them with correct info?

Sort your attitude out, Nomark.

well as ive got an a2 restricted surely they would pick that up when i sent my copies if asked for them? and have rung express today with my original £363 quote , asked them about the 33bhp kit and " the department that deals with that doesnt work on saturdays" so i have to wait until Monday to hear back, so i shall post the result on here and we shall see how this pans out!

I'm with MCN, still restricted, sent them copies of my license and they've never mentioned it. Thumbs Up

I think it counts as a modification, so it should be declared.

It's up to you if want to take the risk but bear in mind that insurance companies will look for any inaccuracy, no matter how trivial in your details to try get out of paying money in the event of an accident.

Try: https://www.wickedquotes.com/

Reasonable insurance prices for me. Don't rack up my premium for having an accident and also don't charge a penny extra on the policy for any modifications; including the restrictor kit.

Worth getting a quick online quote.

Have you tried Hastings? They seem to be giving me quite a cheap price for my ER-6N (albeit on full license without restrictions), suggest you give them a go.

Answer it as honestly as you can. If they're not prepared to distinguish between "A", "A<=25kW" or even "A1" (that's a motorcycle license too) then that's their choice.

Im on the understanding that its a full license for that question (still have full A license even if restricted) and the restrictor kit etc comes under modifications list..
