I'm getting fat.

Last year I put on 2 stone and am nearly nudging 16 stone, so to shed the excess I'm thinking of getting a road bike but I don't really know what I need.

I've seen the Btwin Triban 3 recommended a couple of times on here which at £300 would come in at the very very top of my budget.

A quick look on ebay threw this up, which to me looks more or less the same but for almost half the price.

As a fatty who hasn't ridden a bike much at all in the last 5 years, will I notice the difference in a more expensive bike or will I be wasting my hard earned?

Thanks

Conan

If I was in your position I'd probably go for the cheap bike just incase you get bored of cycling.

Triban every time. And get Strava on your phone. And invest in some decent shorts. And get some half decent shoes, cleats and pedals. SPD-SL will do the job nicely...

nope. Get cycling shorts, the padding is the important bit. Makes a world of difference to comfort levels on any bike.

+1. Thumbs Up

Your guch will thank you for a good chamois. And buy some Sudocrem. You'll need it to start with.
