I'm a little confused... A had a moped in Sept. 11 until Feb 12, which i changed insurance companies to accomodate a 125 which i had bought. I'm hopefully getting a 600 within the next few weeks, will I have to wait until I pass my year of insurance with my 125 (feb) to get my 1 yr ncb or do i get it because I had a moped previously?

You will have to wait, you only get NCB awarded at the end of 12 months continuous policy with the same insurer.

Yup - I passed my CBT last January, passed my bike test in October and getting my NCB this week. Plus in a year, I've had 4 different 125's Laughing

As long as you have had ONE continuously in force insurance policy with ONE insurer and had NO claims, then at the renewal date of your policy you wil have one year's no claims bonus.

Right in October I brought a 650 and took out a completely new policy with someone else, then someone hit me now I have a claim. any difference?

If you took out a new policy in October then the period from February 12 to October 12 is redundant and you earn nil bonus from it.

You'll have to wait until October 2013 for the POSSIBILITY of receiving a year's no claims bonus which is entirely dependent on a) the incident you've already had being settled, entirely, as non-fault (ie third party having admitted 100% liability) and b) you not having any further incidents.

Buy a 50cc ped, put in garage.
Insure it and tax it yearly. Don't ride it.

NCB builds itself like a boss.

Not sure either I'm reading you right or your reading me right, or both

Can you explain again what you've done?

My understanding is:
1) Took out insurance policy on a 125 in FEbruary 12 and run that until October 12, at which point it was cancelled
2) In October 12 you took out a new policy with a different insurer on a 600
3) On the 600 you've had an incident which has been reported to the insurers of the policy you took out in October 12?

Is that correct?

If so, then as I've said above ^^

RIIIIIGHT, now I'm getting ya. In that case, then the 125 policy will have accrued 1 years no claims bonus come February assuming you don't have an incident which could or does attach to that policy.

With regards your other policy - your NCD will be held 'in abayance' until such point that liability for the incident is decided. If it goes 100% non fault for you, then it will be reinstated - so you'll have 2 lots of 1 years NCD

Note; you can't accumulate that into 2 years NCD, it will remain as two separate chains of NCD
