"The Sufferfest" is a website that sells videos to motivate you while using a turbo trainer. I've got a trainer and by fuggery, it's boring.

Has anyone here any experience with these videos? I'm thinking of getting some downloaded (can't find a torrent that works dammit!) and I'm happy to pay if it's something worthwhile...

They are very good, and pass the time quite quickly as generally they involve lots of short intervals.

The only downside is they are mostly based on high intensity efforts, which is fine for peaking, or maintaining form in summer, but not so good for winter, where you should be building base at lower intensities.

Some good interval stuff on here for mixing stuff up - https://www.turbotraining.co.uk/indoorCyclingWorkout.php?nav=search.

My turbo's in my conservatory in front of the telly which streams owt I fancy off the NAS drive. It's full of films, MotoGP/BSB, Le Tour, Giro and Vuelta, loads of POV Criterium stuff. Never gets boring. Just sweaty.

Became a resident of Sufferlandria yesterday. It's true, it's a very dark place...

Funny you've bumped this thread I've just downloaded my first - The Hunted.

I take it you've got the 'A very dark place' one then? How is it?

If you can wank at the same time it helps. Getting the strokes to work together is magical. Thumbs Up

Bad, but I suppose you can make it as brutal as you want. I did the Hunted this morning. That 20 minute climb is horrible, but that tempo/attack segment at the end had me begging for mercy. Awesome.

I like just watching a 'normal' film, TV or similar to alleviate the boredom.

Indeed, but rather than just alleviate the boredom, these provide some inspiration and motivation. The feeling of dread when you know something horrible is approaching isn't fun, but knowing you've done it afterwards is very satisfying. And it provides some alternative to endless spinning.

You do need a bike computer with a cadence monitor on it though, otherwise it makes no sense. Garmin Edge 500 for me...

Have tried them myself I should add - on my bike with motactv and cadence/speed sensor attached.

But I'm not really that 'in' to road cycling stuff, so I'd say I'd probably stay motivated for longer if it was watching a film/TV I liked. instead of this.

I hear you, and I'm probably of this opinion 'cos of the novelty value of trying them for the first time. I also like sticking a movie or a concert film on (Flight 666 is always good) and seeing how long I can TT at 100+ cadence for...

I generally end up with puddles on the floor.
