they are either really good or loadsa trouble! Ive had a few husky's and mates have had bergs and they either last forever and take loads of abuse or die spectacularly

I dont know many people who have had one that would buy one again and to be honest £500 for an unregistered possibly hot bike doesnt sound too good

They don't hold their value well.

Later models have better reliability - earlier you get, the more likely most of the engine is likely to turn to dust at any time.

As with KTMs, a 20mm front axle means 02 or earlier, a 26mm front axle is 03 or later.
I think the pictured one looks like a 20mm.

When they're working well, they're very good bikes - about as light as you'll get a big thumper competition bike with plenty of power.
My 501FE had serious issues with hot starting with the road legal can on. Manageable with the race one, but impossible with the road legal pretty much - px'd it for a KTM200 and didn't look back, much preferred the zingy 2 stroke - and of course that I could enter enduros and be able to restart the bike!

The electric start was sold as a 'restarter' on early models, but even with everything in tip-top shape, still couldn't manage that on mine with the road can on.
