Sorry, but from what I've seen of bh, they should be avoided....
The majprity of the bikes I've seen there are imports, but I would expect they have some UK ones, from part exchanges if nothing else.

I don't know if they only do imports, but they only do 400s so most of their stock would be imports anyway. My bike came from Boxhill originaly (i didnt get it from there) and there's nothing wrong with it. And i've not heard problems from others who get bikes from there. They are rather expensive though.

The mileage on a lot of their bikes is so low it makes me wonder where they came from though, most of them are like 1-3K miles even on '89 models, I was thinkin damaged and done up bikes or track bikes...

Good shop I reckon, pretty expensive but I couldn't fault the bike.

I wouldn't use their service department though, too expensive and there are better options around - but as a dealer they're pretty good.

I bought my bike from there too.

...and two months after purchasing the bike, i found all the bolts holding on the right-side engine caseing, were only done up 'hand-tight' !! Shocked WTF!

...not impressed! Confused

the reasoning behind my questions are that i want to buy my bike from a dealer and not privately

That's what I said for the first bikes I've got ... but the backup from the majority of dealer's isn't worth the extra £100s you pay...
It's only really worth it if you were getting something that was *seriously* wrong (ie frame brakes due to fracture in it when you bought it)

However, fair enough if you want the peace of mind

I agree with G, the 'bike' I want next I can pick up for a little oer £2000 privately, and from a dealer the same machine is looking to cost a little over £3000. In reality, if I bought the private bike even if something is wrong I do not think I would have to spend as much as the difference if I had bought from a dealer to put it right. Like G said... when looking at a bike privately, major factors will be pretty damn obvious i.e. dints in the frame (G Laughing) and fucked forks, plastics, etc. The things to check most are that you ain't buying a stolen bike (check VIN AND FRAME numbers with those on the V5, also make sure the V5 is authentic, it should have a DVLA watermark in it), also it may not be totally obvious if the frame is bent, however they are never 100% when they come off the production line anyway.

Somehow I don't think a dealer would except it back if I'd got it from one Smile.

Why not G... can't you put a sticker over it and claim you went to remove the sticker and WOW a huge dint!! (If you could make it a dealer sticker it may be more authentic too Laughing)
