hey guys, this is a bike that is now temporarily mine;) it's an aprilia enduro, it's got a nwe engine (done 7000Kmh) new gearbox. needs new exhaust, and new back tyre (at the moment it has a michelin desert tyre on the rear), got it this evening went to start it.... *tick* electrics die.....

this'll be fun, i gotta try and fix the electrics, and i'll be back on the road again Smile Smile Smile

the only problem is, it has a dodgy starter motor, so i gotta use a kickstart:(

*Edit* i'll take some more photos during the light, tomoro

Hi

Presume that is an ETX from about 1987. The engine is just the old Rotax air cooled lump so if you need bits new go to Peter Knight on 0176 141 4106, and scond hand just look round for bikes being broken that used that engine (Aprilia Tuareg, early Pegaso, various CCMs, Armstrong and Harley ex army bikes, MZ, Matchless G80, etc).

All the best

Keith

i got it till i get another bike, but it needs a new ignition (doing tomoro before work), and a MOT + Tax, but the bloke i'm borrowing it off of, is gunna pay for that.

i gunna see if i can 'acquire' a new back sprocket for it (it's top speed is abouut 60-70, but it will pull a house Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Evil or Very Mad Razz )

gunna give it a good run at the weekend though (bout 90 mile)

Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad it's not fair Middle Finger Thumbs Down Middle Finger i fitted my new battery earlier, and it started Cool Laughing . then we ran it for a bit checking the voltage (14.4V ish) so we stopped the bike.
then tried running it again..... it just turned over - drained all the voltage out of the battery (went from 12/14V - 5/8V) and it kinda melted the protective cable from the + to the solenoid.

it starts fine when jump leaded to a car though?

any ideas why this happens? the battery is brand new
