As title says really. I'm 6'6'' and am thinking about putting together/buying a complete bike in hopes of loosing some weight (road/bikepath riding mostly).

Any suggestions as to where should I start would be welcome. The last time I rode was good 12 years ago, so I've got no clue where to start anymore.

P.S I'm not looking for anything fancy and the budget would be up to £400.

Hello, I'm 6'4" and have one of these ...

https://www.giant-bicycles.com/en-gb/bikes/model/roam.3/9330/49863/

It's a nice bike, I was sceptical about a hybrid but for the type of riding and purpose you describe its be a great bike, they also come with XL 24" frame size.

I use mine for a mix of road, bike paths, canal paths and the like, about 50 miles a week, also tow one of those amazing trailers with my daughter in! Handles it all very well and I'm not the best at maintainence but its been perfect, I'm pretty sure you could find one under £400 brand new now if you went for the 2012 model.

You wont regret getting back into it, good cardio and legs like tree trunks!

The bikes you liked then are probably cheap as chips now. Have a look on eBay, I picked up the mountain bike I loved as a kid in a bigger frame size (I wasn't 6'4 then...) for £20 or so.
