I'm after some helmet recommendations. I like flip lids as I tend to overheat so like to "flip" when poodling around in towns getting far too hot.

similarly I would like really good venting as I ride a BMW RT1150 the fairing cuts out a fair amount of windblast so I need the helmet to do a good job of circulating what's left.

suggestions please? I like the idea of the shark evoline but I don't know if the venting is up to much when in full face mode

ta

I like my Caberg Duke as it can be locked open and is still legal that way (whether it's safe is another topic Wink). The catch to lock/unlock is a little fiddly with gloved hands though (summer gloves may not be as much of an issue).

FWIW a 5 star SHARP rating - info click here.

ta. what do you think of the venting on the caberg?

I have a cheap caberg at the moment and it doesn't have a lot of airflow in full face mode

I find venting fine. Pinlock helps too. Bought back end of last year so being autumn/winter not ridden with it open too much. When I did (the catch locked it open after petrol stop Rolling Eyes) it was cold enough.

I was never keen on front flip helmets, mainly because I assumed the extra flexibility would make them unsafe.
But that Sharp rating is impressive Thumbs Up

Finding it really hard to find a full faced helmet with internal sun visor, the only thing missing from my first Lid Sad

This again? I'd argue (and I mean, in front of a Sheriff) that the UK statute is quite clear. The helmet needs only be appropriately BSI or equivalent (E / ECE) marked and secured, that's is. There's nothing at all in there about configurations. Even if there were, it would be perfectly reasonable to expect a flipped helmet to offer an equivalent degree of protection to a BSI/E marked open face, which is also a defence.

That may be different in Euroland (I'm looking at you, Germany), but we don't toil under their direct yoke quite yet.

Aaaaanway, I had a try-on of the Duke and liked it, but it's a bulky old thing in medium (although slightly lighter than the previous Konda). In the event, I went for a Nitro F341-VN which is very similar in size, weight and features, has an equivalent flip-retention score in SHARP, but can be had for about 40% of the price in return for 3* vs 5* do-not-dead rating.

Because I is Scotch, innit.

Venting isn't that good though, so I mention it mostly to rule it out. Shifty
