How do you lot clean your bikes? Is it a detailed clean in every nook and cranny or £3 on a jet wash? What sort of products do you use? Personally I just cover it in muc off and hose down, then clean and lube the chain and finish off with scottoiler 365 every week or so.

Spray degreaser on the really thick dirt (usually swingarm) and chain, leave 5 minutes, then spray off.

Cover in muc off or WD40, leave 10 minutes, spray down with hose.

Cover brake discs and calipers with muc off brake cleaner, wipe down.

Silkolene cleaner (similar to Muc Off) for most of the bike.
Muc Off branded brake disk cleaner
and some paraffin in a trigger spray bottle for any stubborn oil splats etc

Muck Off should be called Rip Off.
Cheap kitchen/oven cleaner works just as well for a fraction of the price.
I give my bike a good spray and leave for 5mins to soak in then, hose it off and wash the whole bike with Halfords car shampoo.
A good rinse then a spray of WD40 in the summer or ACF during winter when there's salt on the roads!

For me, hot soapy water and sponge, rinse off, shammy dry, then wax, metal polish on shiny metal bits, ucf50 on a rag for all nasty bits, used oil on chain with a rag, job done Thumbs Up takes a while but worth it.

I don't.

I removed and painted the swingarm, it looked great, 50 miles later it looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a year, sod that. Just reinforced my idea that cleaning isn't worth it. Same with the wheels, spent ages with Autosol, they looked great, few days later, you'd never know they had been cleaned.

Washed it using a hose today and had to bump start it as it wouldn't start on the button. Anyone else had a problem like this?

Who still buys Muc Off cleaner?? Go to Poundland, they sell EXACTLY the same stuff but in a rebranded bottle for £1. Have used it for a year.... it even tastes the same (dont ask).

I personally spray my Poundland muc off all over, hot soapy water with sponge, bristle brush on the hard to reach places, rinse down with hose, shammy, ACF50 the neccessaries then polish if im feeling flush.

Disagree. The generic Poundland stuff has a slightly more robust nose, a brief - though immediate - 'cigar-box' note, that I put down to oak casking, which is far less apparent in the branded version. But yes - I suppose only the true connoisseur would notice or care.

Usually, it rains, it gets washed Thumbs Up .

For my twice a year pre and post winter soap and water jobby I use cheap car shampoo, a bottle of paraffin for the oily bits and shine it up with Mr sheen for the smooth bits (don't laugh until you have tried it). Also ACF50 everything metal to prevent corrosion over winter.

Bike still looks pretty good after a wash and several winters of salty roads.

Autoglym, sponge and a hose.
Wheels get a clean with WD40 every few months.

Waterless Wash & Whine. Quick spray on, wipe off with micro fibre cloth, takes 5 minutes tops, no mess.

Can I use Valet Pro citrus tar and glue remover on my wheels or will it make it a potential death trap. I'm aware it doesn't contain silicon but when I've used it on my car it feels rather slippery.

Does anybody have any experience with it?

rinse with warm water,
muc-off and a brush,
a second rinse in warm water,
shampoo and hot water,
parafin on chain,
rinse again in warm water,
chammy to dry,
wax and polish,
lube chain, adjust if needed.

About two hours in total, do this once a month, and just give her a shampoo, rinse and dry off once a week, I like my bike to be clean. Must've got thus off my dad he is obsessive when it comes to cleaning his!
