My friend was riding his mini bike and he turned it off at the top of a hill. When he tried to restart it, it wouldn't move because the pull cable only went 1/4 of the length. Then we he tried walking it the back wheel would not move, like the brakes were pressing on it. The wheel has a 1 inch moving radious before it just stops, like a barrier.

When it does move this slight amount it appears the engine is also being triggered because you can hear stuff coming out of the exaust. It's very odd and a mechanic shop said it may be some clutch. Any advice on this probllem and how to fix it with simple intructions?

Any replies will be appreciated.

Is this of any importance?

What kind of mini bike is it? Is it a twist and go type or does it have gears and a clutch?

The engine only turning over a slight amount could indicate that the engine has seized.

Please don't be like my english teacher. Anyway i fixed it, it was a nut in the clutch that was very loose and was causing this problem. It's a gear and clutch type.

Thanks for reply.

He wasn't being rude or anything, just whether it's an automatic or not is kind of important for whether you can push it with an engine seizure.

If you pulled the clutch in/ put it in neutral, the bike should be pushable even with the engine seized. If the clutch was buggered, in neutral with the clutch out it should be pushable.

If pushing it in gear with the clutch out makes the engine turn over, then there's not a lot wrong with it except perhaps the clutch. I don't think pushstarting would get you very far without a clutch working, but pushing it fifth should get it rolling at any rate I should think.

Anyway, it's fixed and that's the important thing. Thumbs Up

As mchaggis said I wasn't been pedantic in any way shape or form, without the facts we can't answer your questions.

i used to be a petrol mower mechanic (yes go on, laugh) and it sounds like the pull cord has either broke or just has a bit of a mechanical lockup inside the casing, open up the casing and take a look and let me know Thumbs Up
