Hey guys, I've just upgraded my mobile to a S3, and am looking for a waterproof case to have on the bike so I can use the sat nav on it, is anyone running anything like this? if so how good is it?

To be honest, I've always been happy with the 'Ultimate Addons' mounting point and case; I bought one for my HTC Desire, and it worked very well. I've since bought the case for my S3 (thanks to the mount being a universal fitting), although I've not had to use it in anger yet. The Desire one was just fine though, and resisted showers perfectly well. I didn't try it in torrential rain, purely because I'm not usually in an exploring mood when the rain's coming down that hard. ____________________ '10 SV650SF, '83 GS650GT (it lives!), Questionable DIY dash project, 3D Printer project, Lasercutter project |

Ultimate Addons do a waterproof tough case now. I bought one for the iPhone, but I’m pretty sure they’ll have one for the S3.
It’s solidly built and an excellent fit for the iPhone, but…
…it makes it massive and nearly doubles the weight. It happened to be exactly what I wanted, but won’t suit everyone.
I also have the older soft case from Ultimate Addons which has done great service, but the hard case seems more water resistant and allows you to charge the iPhone while keeping it water tight. I still carry the soft case in my rucksack for mounting the phone if I need. The tough case lives at home and gets used for longer journeys and touring. ____________________ 2016 CBF1000F - Commuter heaven | 1994 CBR600FR - Awaiting defibrillation |

The RAM aquabox large pro 20 that fits the S2 also fits the S3, just about. If you have any external protector on the S3, you'd need to take it off.
My GF has an S3 and it fits in. My Galaxy Nexus is a more comfortable fit though. ____________________ Bikes: S1000R, SH350; Exes: Vity 125, PS125, YBR125, ER6f, VFR800, Brutale 920, CB600F, SH300x4

I've gone one of these which I've used on motorbike and push bike and am pretty happy with it, it should fit most modern phones (There's still a bit of space around my Sensation in there, but a Note 2 might be pushing it.)

It should fairly solid using the straps, but you could probably make something a bit better with a ram mount and some silicone if you wanted.
As it is, it's waterproof to 5m. |

As per my post in pretty much any mounting thread ever:
Velcro tape on tacho. Velcro tape on phone.
If your phone isn't waterproof on its own you have the wrong phone. What if you need to ring someone when it's raining?
Job done.
For reference, here is a picture of the back of my Samsung Galaxy not-quite-an-S3:
https://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n39/mredgey/DSCF6765_zps7fa42f45.jpg
It makes the phone easier to grip as well. Tested to 100mph+. You can buy me a pint with the change. |
