Engine Oil: Vacuum or Pressure

Changed the oil today but my torque wrench didn't seem to do it's job, the plug got as tight as I "felt" it needed to be.

So when the engine's running, will the oil be held in under vacuum or will it be forced out under pressure if my hands are wrong and it wasn't tight enough?

If it's loose and comes undone, the sump will vacate it's oil like a night on the vindaloo Wink

Keep an eye on it for now.

I'll get the fitters in work have a look at the torque wrench tomorow, to see whether it's finctioning properly.

I thought it felt tight, I certainly could have give it a bit more, but 25nM isn't much at all, so I'm convinced it's tight enough.

I'll check it when I get to work after it's been ridden too.

Alloy nuts and bolts don't come apart as easy as steel ones as they're a softer metal, you should be OK.

Torque wrench works fine, it needed half a turn more.

Still, best to be safe than sorry before knackering the thread.
