Theres a very real chance i will be changeing bike sometime this week... ive had it a year and its taught me allot, rideing experiance wise and allot more in spannering, its driven me comfortably for 9 thousand miles, most of them with a smirk on my face.

But given its probable need of top end rebuild to get it back up to standard (not that expensive but dont have the time or spare transport) and that its squirmy suspension is limiting my rideing, more confidence than anything (more noticeably when rideing with a group) the brakes are worryingly inefficient for its mass (with passengers must be in excess of 300kg) and that i have got this rare chance to move up in the world i think it might be silly not to...

My girlfriend was upset when i said i might be changeing, nearly half of those miles has had her sat on the back, i'm sure she will get used it... but i'm almost regreting it allready, the new bike is superior in almost every way (appart from the seat and argueably carracter/oddness and shaft drive which i will miss)

Is it stupid? to get so attached? its when you have gone through so much sat on that seat, holding onto them bars bounceing allong on those forks... is it just me?

A mate unashamedly said he shed a tear or two at selling his first "propper" bike, the same bike he was rideing shortly before shattering his wrists, probably allot of firsts though...

What do you think? stupid or did you cry like hairy girls when you saw your first bike being wheeled off?

It's not silly at all, it can get quite personal, when you get in and out of scrapes on a bike, and cover miles and miles on it. I can't imagine selling mine ever. So it might become a track bike

I was glad to get rid of the 'ped, but I do still miss my X9 125 Evo, I sold it in June. Lovin' the GSXF though and I can see me being a bit upset when it's time to trade/sell. Man, what a girl.

The way I see it is if you don't like your next bike you can always get another of the previous bike... it may not be the /exact/ same one but you get the idea. I was annoyed at selling my ZXR, annoyed that I never got to ride it at full power, that I lost some money on it etc, but I was like "ZXR? What ZXR!" When I picked the R6 up from the dealer!! So you'll be fine, don't worry about it and you can always get another if you don't like the new bike (what is the new bike??)

I can offer no advice to you. My complete inability to part with my friends ... hmm, I mean bikes ... means that I currently have four in the garage and am anticipating having a fifth sometime next year.

Know the feeling and I don't like selling bikes either. Last time I sold one was 1996, and the time before that was 1993. Really the reason that there are now 15 odd bikes in the garage.

Just keep the old one as well if you can, and play with it when the time and money become available.

I'd really love to keep it, but its going to fund my newun... in effect i'm getting £700 for mine, which is good considering, £200 loss...

I remember rideing my cg125 to the dealership to trade in for my cx, after rideing the er-5 on the direct access and thinking "wow, how am i not dead after rideing this for a year!" i'm sort of expecting to feel the same, appart from the comfy, the cx is so very very comfy its unbelieveable...

Promised my girlfriend that it wouldn't be uncomfortable, shes going to be haveing a sit on today, hopefully i will be right

Possibly the penultimate ride in a minute...

I could see myself getting a sports bike and never wanting anything less, as a second bike yeh, main bike, not for me, i like being comfy, haveing a spine that works and haveing a tiny bit of money left after spending it all on the bike

I had my nsr over 2 years, when it pulled away with the new owner a few weeks ago there was a lump in my throat, because the rsponse to the advert was so quick i never really got a chance to say goodbye
