I would suggest using websites like Black Circles, M&P, Protyre, Demon Tweeks and may more.

Why not just google "Motorcycle Tyres" and go down the list searching for Avon Roadrider tyres and just look for the cheapest from a reputable dealer? Try and factor in fitting though if you aren't fitting them yourself.

I would suggest not getting Avon Roadriders. I have a rear thats nearly new that you can have here, if you sort the postage and give me £10.

It's CB500 rear size, whatever that is.

Ehhh my road riders are covered in cracks on the sidewall and in the tread after only ~3k miles, never been under-inflated.

I find tyres tend to be cheapest on eBay, also check the websites of eBay sellers.

I suggest eBay, I also suggest better reviewed tyres as Avon aren't know to be particularly good

What bike and what do you use it for ? People can give you better recommendations then

thanks for the input guys, they'll be for an er5 so not much need for trackday rubber

from what i've read, the BT45 or the avon roadrider are the main ones people stick to. roadrider seems to be the one for eeking most mileage out of..

i've got BT45's on at the moment and theyre ok, just look a bit old and perished so will replace them in due course. no cause for complaint, just wanting the best value, and for me, Value = sMiles.

surely cant be as black and white as that?

you couldn't describe my riding as spirited in a million years, going fast isn't what I'm after.

the BT45 is way more expensive and doesn't last half as long by all accounts...

I bought a 500 commuter to enjoy biking without the costs associated with a larger sports bike.

BT45 is a better tyre than Roadrider. End of.

However, like I said above, if it's purely running costs kept low, you're welcome to my part worn roadrider.

I had Roadriders on my ER-5 and replaced them for BT45's.

the Roadriders, in my experience, were naff in the wet and not great in the dry. The BT45's were far superior. But again, that's just my experience of them...

I had Roadriders on my 250 when I bought it and they weren't great on that, either.

Also bear in mind that all these tyres you're talking about are old fashioned cross-ply single compound tyres. Whilst I have nothing against the BT45s and have some on the Bros 400 my fiancée rides they do square off like a bugger if you do any motorway miles on them.

Have a shop around and get some modern dual compound rubber, even if it's an old set of Michelin Pilot Road and they'll last longer and square off much less.

I though the BT45 is, now, a dual compaund tyre? I swear when I bought a set for my NSR it was stated they were dual compound.

Sorry, yep. The rear does allegedly have dual compound. They still square off a lot worse than modern rubber though.

The pilot road is single compound.

The 2s and 3s are dual compound.

Personally I always go with oponeo.co.uk

I find their search function to be a bit shit though.

Lets put it like this.....

I had a XJ6 and had BT45s on which were great in ALL conditions. I was talked into Avon roadriders at change time.
Yes they do last a lot longer..... Due to lack of grip..... Even in the dry.

Sometimes you have to spend a bit more to be safe. Karma
