Does anybody own a set?
I'm looking to get an intercom set so the missus can chat to me while we ride (why!?!)
I really don't have the money for a £200+ designer brand.
While browsing ebay/amazon, I came across a few of these for sale
https://www.amazon.co.uk/bike-intercom-rider-pillion-2012/dp/B005FNH29E/ref=pd_sim_sbs_auto_5
The reviews seemed pretty good. So, has anybody had any experience with these or similar?

I've been thinking of these too, but on eBay, which are a bit cheaper if you getaway with import tax etc.

The ones you show have the mic fixed to one of the ear pieces, which now seem to have been changed on the latest ones from China, which do look better.
I'd also interested in any reviews ____________________ FZ6 Fazer |

Hi,
I bought some of these recently off ebay, so the wife can tell me what I'm doing wrong when we're out on the bike
Anyway, so far so good - I would have to say that they are not at all bad for the price. I havent tried any of the more expensive ones - so you guys that have them might have an opinion on the quality of these, but for me they are alright for the money.
I found them very fiddly to fit in the helmets, and the positioning of the ear piece really makes a big difference to the quality, and volume when riding - so it took a while to get right.
When out on my own, which is every day as I commute to work, I use it blue toothed to my phone and that works well too. Call clarity isn't great at speed, but I always slow down when taking a call anyway.
Also, as my nokia phone reads my texts and emails out to me through the headset, using voice commands - it makes it a pretty cool device. Mind you not sure what people must think at the traffic lights when they can hear me shouting: "Read text", or "call back" - like some nutter
They are really easy to set up, and switching between being paired with the other headset or the phone is simple too.
When paired to the other headset, you can have the channel contantly open, so you speak without pressing anything. Or sort of on standby, which means one or the other has to press the big button on the unit to allow to speak. This has been better for us as it makes the battery last longer.
So - overall, I wasn't expecting them to be that good as they are a lot cheaper than the 'branded' items, but as I had nothing to compare them to I don't know how much better the branded ones might be!
They work okay for me though.
Edit: These are what I bought - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2x1000m-BT-interphone-bluetooth-motorcycle-Motorbike-helmet-intercom-Headset-SET-/281117398905?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item4173e71779#ht_5649wt_1142 ____________________ Current bike: FJR1300

I had the previous generation to the ones in OP's link, couldn't deal with the sound quality and lack of volume.
Not sure what the newer ones are like but the ones I had didn't compare at all to my new Sena ones.
Not just sound quality, but the ease of use, one touch to switch between intercom, phone, gps.
Was a royal pain trying to reconnect intercom after changing to listen to gps instructions. ____________________ Current: '03 Tuono RSV1000, '05 Van Van, '91 Zephyr 550

I've just got the same ones
It only handles one input at a time. I knew this before buying, but as using phone as the single device for phone+satnav+music was not a problem.
As mentioned, phone call / intercom quality is fine. Clear and good volume even with EAR Soft FX plugs in.
Music on the other hand, not so good. It's ok, but overwhelms the speakers. I'm not sure if that's just a fault of all flat helmet speakers though.
I'm still happy to sing along at full volume though, it's not terrible, just not very good.
For £37 1 set, very happy. A mate was impressed and is likely going to get the same. |
