hey guys... got a problem with rebuilding my CB400N Superdream

got my replacement exhaust on... no problem
went to start it... turns over, got a spark... fuel is in the tank.
but i think the carbs may be blocked somewhere.

i am trying to get the carbs off, as they are a bitch. i have undone the jubilee clips front and back (there a pair). i know the have to come out of the left hand side (when sat on it).

but the intake tubes get right in the way. i would remove the hoses from the carbs, to the engine, but there very tightly on. and there only 8mm bolts:(

anyone got any hints on there removal???

If it is similar to my 125 superdream (which I reckon it is). You need to remove the airbox rubbers then unbolt the inlet manifold from the cylinder head leaving the carb attached to them. You should then be able to manouver them out.

If the rubbers are too stiff to remove, try warming them up with some tea towels soaked in HOT water or a hair drier, alternativley loosen off the bolts that hold the airbox and move it back a bit (don't do this unless you have to).

Hi

Not sure on the Superdream (I sold mine 15 years ago), but if you can unbolt the airbox from the frame, and hopefully you will be able to push it back and give you more space to take the carbs out.

Works on the 1200 Bandit and the GPZ500S.

All the best

Keith
