Hello BCF. My retarded naff iphone has died. I'm after any cheap phone that can access the interwebs etc and doesn't lag to hell.

Budget £50.

I'd quite like a retro flip one. Not too fussed though.

Cheaper the better.

Also gotta be able to run 02 (giffgaff)

what does bcf suggest? I know nothing of these mobiles.

Cheers.

I'd go for a new Samsung Galaxy y, or maybe a second hand Nokia N8 or second hand Galaxy Ace. The Galaxy phones run Android so there are loads of apps to choose from.

The N8 has a fantastic 12 mp camera on it, all 3 mentioned are fine with the internet.

The Galaxy Y can be had for £39.99 from Carphone warehouse IF you have a payg sim that is eligible for an upgrade. Maybe your partner has a sim they've been putting credit on for 6 months or more? Vodafone/Orange/O2/Tmobile (GGaff excluded). If not then it's £49.99 + £10 top up.

Either those or nip into TESCO and pick up a Nokia 201 for £34, will do what you want and take a GGaff sim.

I had a Galaxy y recently (went on a water ride and it no longer works Laughing ) Mine had loads of annoying little bugs though which meant forever restarting it. Battery life was really good could easily last a couple of days even with quite a bit of use.

I much preferred the HTC wildfire S that I had before though which was basically the same price, it's a much better phone but sadly the battery was terrible and often wouldn't make it though the working day.

I think the phone manufactures are clever enough to not make a very usable phone in the budget smart phone price range so you end up spending more on a top end one.
I'm using my old school Nokia now and although it does nothing but make phone calls it does that perfectly and never makes me angry like the cheap smart phones did.

It's Chinese, probably won't last more than a year and have to be charged every 2 hours.

OTOH, it's £47.

These are coming up all the time on ebay ex-contract.
Good but limited onboard space, needs rooting so you can move almost all apps to SD card
